If I have the Thumbs Up passive and Isabella isnt in my party I'm done for right (xbox....not sure if I have saves pre friend)?

I'm still on my first playthrough and ~46 hrs in (act 3) really dont want to start over :(

You have nothing to worry about; it's all downhill from there. ;)

Here's a brief fix so you won't have to read hours worth of posts. This worked for me on PC:
1. Get friendship fix from http://www.dragonage...le.php?id=2299. Unzip and copy the file into the Dragon Age 2 override folder.
2. Get Dragon Age 2 save game editor from http://social.biowar...ct/1936/#files. (Get the gff4 editor). Edit a saved game. Look under your main character for an animation speed modifier entry. Mine was -15% when I started to feel slow. Changed it to 0%.
3. Avoid temptation to boost your stats with the savegame editor!
I can provide more details if you need help, but I have been avoiding the forums until I finish my first playthrough.

I'm stuck at the "edit a saved game" part.  I open up the editor and found some saves in C:/users/username/documents/Bioware.  When I select a save the editor opens up a page with this mass of data and values.  I looked around but saw nothing like speed values.  Any help on what to look for would be appreciated.

actually what I read was the bug occurs when you use isabela or sebastian or both and sometimes even you remove them from companion the bug 'passive' skill will haunt you forever. But there's a specific topic talking about this and the simplest thing to remove the passive bug is to go anywhere during day time and save your game without isable/sebastian in ur slot (I always save my game in Merril house at daytime).

The bug will occur when you're saving your game anywhere during night time or outside kirkwall with isabela/sebastian in ur slot.

Correct me if I'm wrong

You're not very well informed. Try to be more careful with the information you're posting.

The bug occurs when you load a save that was done in certain zones of the game while Isabela was in your party. Saving in, for example, Merrill's house will not remove the bug but will only not produce it.

The negative speed stacking is caused by Isabela's friendship buff; Sebastian's bug will reduce your damage resistance.
