I've trolled through countless discussion boards, gone through forum after forum, and even attempted braving EA's support system for a resolution to my problem.

I have consistently suffered the game hanging on the load screen that comes up when I attempt to leave the Chantry in Lothering. To this point in the game, I have not suffered any of the ill effects of other users. I've seen no evidence of a memory leak. I have no artifacting, lag, crashing, or anything else untoward happening, excepting the fact that I cannot leave the Chantry once I enter it. Seemings as the game is called Dragon Age and not Mystical Chantry, I'd very much like to leave the building and get back to killing baddies. The loading screen comes up, the blood pools, and everything seems to be going swell... except that whatever it is the game's loading never comes to be. I'm forever left staring at the loading screen until I force the program to quit. I've left it for 15-20 minutes at a time, and it still does not resolve.

So far, my searches have come up with nothing useful, meaningful, or even remotely related to my problem. Given the legion of other issues that seem to have accompanied this game on the PC, I can see how something like this might be overlooked or rolled into other bug reports. But for me, this remains the only hurdle between me and this game. And so far, it's looking to kill the experience for me. The game seems amazing. But I'm growing very tired of playing the same two hours over and over again.

If somebody knows something that might help, I'd be grateful. The only alternative, I'm afraid, would be to uninstall the game and choke on the money I've spent, as having it sitting there on my desktop is too much temptation to end up wasting another half or whole hour on before running into the same thing.

Though I doubt there's any cause for concern, here's my system specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo 6600 @ 2.4 GHz
2 GB DDR2 RAM
2 x nVidia GeForce 9600 GT 512MB each, running SLI. Firmware v. 182.50
1 TB HDD @ 7,200 RPM
Microsoft Windows XP Professional 32-bit

And yes, the game was bought and loaded through Steam. However, before anyone starts pointing fingers at Steam, the installation went off cleanly and all of my DLC seems to have installed without a problem.

TL;DR: Game hangs on the same load screen every time it comes up. Hardware doesn't seem to be the issue. Please help if you can.

Ffff. The same thing happened to me the first time I played the game. I'm not at all certain what the problem was, since my DLCs and other portions of the game installed and loaded swimmingly. I got so fed up that I loaded to a (thankfully close) previous save outside the Chantry and just left anything to do with it alone. :/

Weirdly, on my second game I was able to exit the Chantry as normal. The only thing I can say is that it's a bug, possible something not being fired correctly in the code? I'd hate for the only response to this to be "reload your save game."
