I realize that I'm asking a question in the wrong forum, but I haven't loaded DA II yet because I have an importation question first, and unregistered game owners can't post.
If you're only importing a saved 'chain' of 4 games that contain desisions you've made; why bother? Why not use the 'generic' ones they offer you?
I've read that importing causes a glitch that appears as the DA II game progresses.
Will you keep your current level as of Witch Hunt (23)? Money? Items?

No, you start at the beginning. If you have all the DLC in the save, you may get more cameos by virtue of having more relationships with characters and more decisions reflected. If you use the predefined starting decisions, only those things mentioned are reflected--who rules Ferelden, who the hero was, and how the endgame was decided within the limits of those defaults. There are more choices available in Origins, alone, than are reflected there, let alone in the DLC. If you have an Origins save, why not use it? If you don't, well the game is worth playing on its own merits, DA2 notwithstanding.
I don't know what glitch you're referring to, but my game imported correctly from Origins. I didn't use an Awakening or Witch Hunt save. Some people have had romances imported incorrectly, but while irritating, that doesn't really affect gameplay except in what you hear about Ferelden or in the cameos.

Supposidly, the 'glitch' doesn't happen upon installation, but upon further gameplay. I dunno.
...but thank you.

There are problems with the imports -- in particular, the LI cameos have wrong dialog triggering. With a couple, it's minor enough that many people haven't noticed or are sad that their warden's LI didn't wax poetic over their warden, but there's one (Zevran's) whose dialog is so inappropriate if the warden was romanced that there's been screaming and angst on the internet.
There are a few other import bugs as well -- the decision on the architect seems to default to him being spared for instance.
I still think it's fun using an Origins import. There are books describing the fifth blight laying around, and they're a lot of fun to read.

Plus, depending on the warden origin you've imported there are little tidbits about them. Granted not a whole lot, but you get to hear about Amell relation (if you import an Amel), or how a mage stopped the blight (if a mage), or snippets about Cousland being a good king, etc. Some Amaranthine decisions are reflected in sidequests too. For instance, I got the snippet now Amaranthine nobles are still angry at the Warden Commander for saking their city, but the farmers and outlaying nobles think that the lady can do no wrong (my warden let Amaranthine burn and protected the farms).
There is not a lot, but what what there is touching, I thought.
