To 360 players: What if ME3 would be a 1disc game?

Sony to mean to give us there tech, and plus games would probably cost more. You know Micro$oft.
Sony is only one member of the Blu-ray Association and they do not control Blu-ray technology. Anyone can pay for a license to use Blu-ray technology so nothing is stopping MS from using Blu-ray in their consoles except MS themselves.
I don't understand the fascination with this "number of discs" stuff we keep seeing on the forum but then I am a PC gamer and buy all my games from Steam so discs are irrelevant. I don't even know why we are talking about "if the game comes on 1 disc", the odds of that happening are incredibly low. I would take it as read that ME 3 will be on 2 discs

and buying an xbox is cheap? Way overpriced platform. Red ring of death plagues all old xboxs and makes them worthless after several years, so you will likely have to buy 2 xboxs because microsoft is such a horrible company that they can't make anything right the first time.
That was true 2-3 yrs ago, but it isn't the case now. Consoles are dirt cheap and the RROD is no longer a threat.
Yes..yes..pay for 7 year old hardware that can never be upgraded instead of investing in a 700 dollar PC that can play any game on the market. ANY game. Max Settings.
I'm not pc master race, but buying a xbox right now is not a good idea at all, in my opinion.

In a perfect world it would be three disc and allow 360 players to install on the harddrive and then be able to play off only one disc.
Won't happen, the 360 does a disc check when you need to change discs and won't continue without the correct disc in the drive even if you have all discs installed

In a era where everything is switching to digital, having two discs for one game feels like a step backwards. Not to mention that they are DVDs. If Microsoft didn't charge so much for hard drive upgrades then I'd say Mass Effect 3 should be digital download only.sonsonthebia07 wrote...

Seriously, the way it is in Mass Effect 2 is perfectly fine.

800-1000 bucks is a ton of money? You don't need top of the line PC to play any game.
If you've got $1000 to burn, how about sending it my way?

Then you would also need to take into account the fact that not every country has a good broadband service. Just take the UK, some sources say that the average broadband speed for the UK is 6.3Mb/s which isn't great, then you would also loose any potential customers who are unable to connect consoles to the internet.

Amount of discs is in no way a measure of quality or a guarantee that the game will be longer. (look at the space game makers use on a blu-ray simply because they don't have to compress....... the games are still the same as on 360)
As long as the game is 25+ hours (my average time between the first two, multiple playthroughs) then I am happy.

As for the PC v 360? Well if you're a "hardcore" gamer that likes to invest in parts and upgrading their PC, using a M/KB combo and prefers digital distribution, then by all means game on a PC.
But if you want to chill with a controller in your hand, on your couch in front of a big HDTV, then get a console.
And it's only 250 euro for a 360, whereas a top of the line gaming PC will set you back between 800-1000 euro. Not worth it for prettier graphics and better frame rate IMO.

Ok, so first of all MS is working on a disc reading method that will get at least 1 more gig out of the standard dual layer DVD. Also factor in the fact that they could possibly compress the game better by the time 3 comes out.

Well this is a terrible example, as it doesn't have graphics on par with other games, and I'm sure most here haven't even touched the game, but Tales of Vesperia is only on one disc and is enormous.
I have spent over 200 hours on it getting all of the achievements.

Yeah, the only problem with 2 discs is that the actual content has to be structured. So while having to change discs wasn't a big deal, there was a limitation to the order in which you could choose to recruit your squadmates. This could be solved by having to install one or both of the discs to the hard drive.
"But I don't have a hard drive!"
Shut-up. I mean seriously, who doesn't have a hardrive or USB stick at this point? The game is rated M anyway. That means adults should be buying/playing the game; and those adults should be able to afford a storage device. It would hardly be the first time in history a game required a harware upgrade to play. You had to buy a new peice of harware on the N64 to be able to play Majora's Mask and several other games. Every garbage music game makes you buy some plastic instrument. Every couple of years (at the very least) you have to put a new video card or some other BS into a PC just to be able to keep up with the Joneses. My point being that while the new Microsoft disc format that's coming down the pike is great and all, they shouldn't be afraid to REQUIRE players to meet certain hardware criteria (see: storage device) on select games.
Now, I'm not saying that every game developer should be free to cram their games so full of crap that it requires an install. However, on top-tier, triple-A titles it shouldn't be a problem. Besides, how many 360 games have actually had 2 discs? The only one I even know of is ME2. This should not be a big deal.

Now, that being said...I find Mass Effect, for me, is meant to be played on 360.
Why? Because it was made for 360, ported later on to PC.
Ironic, to say the least.
But that's just me.

if microsoft is so bad it is most possible you computer is running windows which is made by microsoft....
and buying 2 xboxs is about the same price as a new computer or cheaper to probably even run ME2/3

Most 'recommended settings' PCs are well over $1,000. That said, a good laptop with minimum settings will work (that's what I use). But I do find playing on the Xbox more enjoyable.
