They do this all the time. They always have.
Seriously playing KOTOR just about drives me insane these days due to the same *head bobble* animation you see in every conversation. Bioware is rather notorious for re-using animations, models, and even environments. Some is fine, but it's been a major critique of reviews that they tend to "copy and paste" a lot.
One thing that makes me laugh is when people say how much more "varied" sidemissions are in ME2 compared to ME1's "recycled" worlds. Yeah about that... Look I give Bioware credit for making the layout of the the ME2 sidemissions different and unique. But guess what: they still use a lot of the same stuff over and over. For example the ever convenient rock-cover formartions anyone? Also regardless they still use the same "prefab" materials over and over again. Like the rusty plating you see
everywhere or the Cerberus style flooring, panels, glass siderails, etc.
Not that it really bothers me since it does make sense that you'd use lots of prefab material when colonizing new worlds. Frankly it never really bothered me a great deal in ME1 that they used the same base layouts. Again it can be rationalized as prefab buildings. Would it have been nice if they had all been a bit different? Sure. Although honestly a lot of people only do a few sidemissions at best. So why waste time creating something truly unique that only a fraction of players will likely see?
Can't blame Bioware too much. Although one animation that's gotten on my nerve is the gun brandishing. Seriously must everyone turn a brand new pistol in their hand side to side? Shepard does this so many times in ME2 with the pistol it's not even funny.
Shepard: "Hmm should I kill you or not?:
*Brandishes Pistol*
