I'll be damned. You're right.

Okay, I have two thoughts. First thought is "Really, Bioware? Really?". Second thought, from my optimistic side, is "maybe they're working so hard on ME3 that they didn't have the resources to spare for the DLC."

Just one thing Moogle..... ME3 started production in Dec. 2009, it's been finished for months now.

I wouldn't say it is finished it's probably in a very playable if not complete state with changes probably up until it goes gold.

Oh, crap. Maybe we're up for more side-grabbing in ME3.
Well, I still stand by my critique. Discuss amounst yourselves.

There's only one re used animation that makes me laugh. It's not even in Arrival. It's in Lair of the Shadow Broker. When Liara gives Shepard his tags Shepard handles it EXACTLY like a datapad. Next time you see it watch for Shepard to start moving his/her right hand towards the thing which is just off frame. Trust me, that's the datapad animation and it cracks me up every time.

Devs have said around the internet that they have done complete playthroughs of the game. Also, most games are fully complete at least months before release, enough time to copy and distribute.

I didn't say it was not complete, just saying that they may be making changes, changing the flow of events... revisiting areas they feel need polish.  Going gold typically happens about a month or less before launch.  Much can and will change by then.

Oh, that's understandable then. But yes, it hasn't gone gold yet. When it does, it'll be a parade here.

Re-used animations?

After seeing the same point, angry point, arm-fold, dance moves, et cetera over and over, I am not surprised.

It's a DLC. Your expectations for the animations were too high.

So what if the animations are being "re-used". It's ME, we loved it when it was the worst shooter experience ever. This is just a bump in a wide road.

They do this all the time. They always have.

Seriously playing KOTOR just about drives me insane these days due to the same *head bobble* animation you see in every conversation. Bioware is rather notorious for re-using animations, models, and even environments. Some is fine, but it's been a major critique of reviews that they tend to "copy and paste" a lot.

One thing that makes me laugh is when people say how much more "varied" sidemissions are in ME2 compared to ME1's "recycled" worlds. Yeah about that... Look I give Bioware credit for making the layout of the the ME2 sidemissions different and unique. But guess what: they still use a lot of the same stuff over and over. For example the ever convenient rock-cover formartions anyone? Also regardless they still use the same "prefab" materials over and over again. Like the rusty plating you see everywhere or the Cerberus style flooring, panels, glass siderails, etc.

Not that it really bothers me since it does make sense that you'd use lots of prefab material when colonizing new worlds. Frankly it never really bothered me a great deal in ME1 that they used the same base layouts. Again it can be rationalized as prefab buildings. Would it have been nice if they had all been a bit different? Sure. Although honestly a lot of people only do a few sidemissions at best. So why waste time creating something truly unique that only a fraction of players will likely see?

Can't blame Bioware too much. Although one animation that's gotten on my nerve is the gun brandishing. Seriously must everyone turn a brand new pistol in their hand side to side? Shepard does this so many times in ME2 with the pistol it's not even funny.

Shepard: "Hmm should I kill you or not?:

*Brandishes Pistol*

i kind of figure they're probably doing mocap for ME3 atm and can't justify doing exclusive mocap for arrival dlc... i kind of expect ME3 to be more like the mocap in LOTSB which was better than anything in ME2

Oh... are you serious ? .... EVERY GAME re-uses animations in their games. Stop right now with your non-sense and get lost.

I noticed, didn't really mind. The way I see it, it'd be kinda stupid for them to not reuse animations. Why bother coming up with a new animation when you already have one that fits the scene just fine?

Is it strange that I like the reused animations? I find them oddly comforting....

I actually wished they reused some more for Arrival, like:
-reuse some dialogue of Joker to avoid him being silent, i bet there are hundreds of lines of joker talkin about pick up without specifying much, both in ME1 and ME2. Joker could say "Roger that commander" or "Wow this is going to be fun" when going into the relay. As it is, Joker silence makes the dlc feel rushed.

1- Scene when Shepard wakes up from 2 days of sedation - same scene exactly from when she wakes up in the Cerberus lab at the beginning of ME2.  Watch - she even grabs her side the same way.

Not that I'm entirely saying it was intentional, but this scene was intended to harken back to the beginning of the game... when sedatives weren't working properly.

I'm only surprised it took this long for you to notice the abundance of stock-animations the game uses.

I completely agree with you there. I was fully expecting Joker to say something when you board the Normandy after having that lovely conversation with Harbinger. Couldn't help but feel a little disappointed when he stayed completely silent as you went through the relay.

I agree, this thread has gone long enough. It's just a game, not a freaking state of the art device, people and they're nickpicks..... they need to grow up.

Oh no! Shepard just did the same animation he uses in the start of the game! Well, I always do the same animation when brushing my teeth, does that count?

Don't forget calling the Normandy for pickup instead of warning the Batarians and getting the same Joker audio from Horizon.

Re-used animations in ME are awesome. I really like the one that ends a lot of conversations. You only ever see Shepard's head, though (s)he is obviously making some sort of body gesture.

"This conversation has run its course. I should go."
