I love playing dragon age 2 romances and after the game i can only picture isabela ending up with a female hawke.

Or maybe someone romanced anders, merrill or feneris as a male ot female hawke and afterwards has a hard time imagining them with  a different gender hawke. Or not even able to romance them in a different gender?

What is your preference?

I"m sure this happens a lot, it's a preference. Each individual tends to build up a mental image of what the character is, and this includes a rough basis of sexuality. So yes, I prefer seeing Merrill with a Male Hawke and/or Fenris with a Female Hawke. That doesn't mean I don't agree with people who prefer it the opposite way, or that I can't enjoy fanart/fanfiction/fanwhateverthehell that doesn't match my ideal gender pairings.

No, because everyone should have the option to romance these characters however they like. Personally, I can only imagine Anders with a male Hawke, but it wouldn't be right to restrict him to one gender. While we may see straight-only LIs in future installments, I'm not holding my breath on an exclusively homosexual one.

To me, Merrill "felt" straight, Isabela was obviously an equal opportunity horn dog, Anders was pan and Fenris existed in some sort of strange quantum state of Shrödinger's Bisexuality.

I have a weird thing about not being able to romance male elven companions as a female. I can romance a female companion as a male elf, but not the other way around. Strange? You bet. I can't even explain it.

I couldn't romance Fenris with my M!Hawke. I avoided flirting with him like the plague, because my F!Hawke is for him, and him alone.

I totally hit on anders though, because his ambiguity is endearing ;p

I tend to only do same sex pairings, so it was nice to have the option. :3 I think it is fantastic that the characters are open to everyone, but I'm very enamoured with a male mage "purple" Hawke and Anders. Being able to play that pairing made me very, very happy instead of having to play a female PC to get it.

I personally see Merrill with Dude Hawke and Fenris with Lady Hawke.  Isabela, I can see either way.

My favorite pairing of all is Lady Hawke and Anders, though.  But a bisexual Anders, where Karl actually was his lover.

I don't feel like that about any of the DAII love interests at this stage, but after romancing Zevran with a male Warden I could never do more than a bit of light flirting as a female character, whereas I felt that Leliana worked better in an f/f relationship.

I can't see myself romance Fen or Anders with a FemHawke. Or romancing Merrill with a male Hawke.

That said I can easily see them with the opposite sex. Just not in my playthroughs.

As for the others, I see Isabela more easily with a FemHawke.

Agreed. I only romanced her with my Female Human Mage - a playthrough I've still to complete - but the whole romantic development seemed incredibly genuine, especially given the Marjolaine background.

Merrill - I actually sort of like better with a MHawke. Partially because the idea that the, at this point in time, theoretical children would be an even greater example of the elves losing their history which is a major plot point for Merrill.

Fenris - Either really although I tend to romance Fenris with male characters more because otherwise Isabela is just waiting there for me..

Isabela - FemHawke. It's just feels right. Somehow Isabela settling down with a man just feels so damn sad and cliche

Anders - Does a murderknife have a gender? Otherwise only a single insane mage MHawke for Anders in my world.

That said I have no issues with whatever people do in their playthrough, this is just my slighty odd view of my ingame universe.

About the same for me. Although a bit opposite, I can't romance Anders with a male Hawke.

Merrill/F!Hawke and that's so far the only romance I've completed and is probably the only one I will do.

And I'm tickled pink that we have more choices this time as far as gender/romance go.

I don't like same-sex relationships, personal thing(during my first 10 years as an atheist I still didn't like it) and religious thing. So you really just have to do what you can and pretend the characters are heterosexual, which is easy enough to do.

It does bother me to some degree, but not the point where I cant enjoy the game.

My dudeHawkes will always go for Fenris.

While it is more realistic to have heterosexual and homosexual (if you limit one, for the sake of that falsehood called equality, you should limit the other) only LIs... It is better from a gaming perspective because everyone can romance the person they find the most attractive.
(As a gay man... I don't find men like Zeveran attractive at all and was a little annoyed that the "my type" of guy, Alistair, was barred from romancing the me in the game... Thank goodness for PC modding!)

Leliana's F/F romance feels more organic than her M/F romance... Almost as if she's a closet lesbian only "loving" a man to conform to society.
Or at least, that's what I got from romancing her as a male and as a female.

I think that bioware went overboard with making everyone bisexual. Before the game came out I thought of Isabela as Bi, Merill Stright, Fenris eh, Anders Straight, Sebastian Straight not a tease.
