I never understand how people could pair Alistair/Morrigan. Seems to me, she'd just laugh at his penis if he tried showing it to her and he would cry.

Unless that's sex.

Ah, yes. "Virgin." An Alistair who is totally not having depraved hatesex with Morrigan on a nightly basis.

We have dismissed that claim.

He was having steamy threesomes with Leliana and Zevran. Oghren was the one doing Morrigan.

Not really, no. Variety is the spice of life.

Agreed.

I'm just hoping Cullen becomes a romance option in the next one...*sigh*

I love the fact that BioWare made all characters available to any gender of Hawke, that's the way it should be. I don't get all the idiot reactions about it. But then again, I wouldn't expect much else from the gaming public these days, especially in the US. It's a shame people can't even accept something so trivial in a GAME! "Oh dude, that dude just hit on me! This game is GAY!" Get the hell over it already.

To answer the question of the topic, I can't imagine Anders with a Female Hawke. His story just FITS him being with Male Hawke IMO and makes his story more meaningful.

When I first started playing Awakening and met Anders, he was such an Alistair clone to me that at first, I expected him to be a romance option for guys to stop all the whinning about Alistair in Origins. He seemed gay to me from the moment I met him. Then he said crap about woman and I just rolled my eyes. I am glad BioWare took him out of the closet for DA2. His story with my Hawke is half the reason I am so in love with this game. I just hope you give more interaction options next time. So I can kiss or hug him whenever it seems like Hawke should be doing that.

PLEASE don't let the bigoted morons of this world change what you did with DA2 for the next sequel!

The only thing I would suggest, is setting an option to make your character straight, bi or gay. Or as it was put put in one of the retarded threads on this site; "turn off the ******" That way, the guys will not flirt with the homophobe players, and Females wont get ****y when I turn them down without a reason. I'm also sick of having to flirt with Isabella to get her friendship, lol. Good thing I love her character so much.

What have you done to me BioWare? I have always thought people that "like/love" game/anime/manga/comic etc characters to be rather pathetic. Then I met Alistair, and now Anders.

Agree with everything but this. It's a dreadful idea. If some people seriously have a problem being hit on in the game the problem lies with them. A game is an exploration, of many things, and to suggest we should define beforehand what orientation Hawke should be is ridiculous. We define it in our own heads, that should be enough.

Otherwise, for one, from a purely gameplay perspective, it closes off a section of content to players when they choose one option over another. It creates the situation of the game 'toggling' content that so many people dislike. From a social standpoint, it suggests that a) one gets to choose their sexuality; and B) that it's okay to create a system that hides content that some might find icky or uncomfortable. I'm an atheist, but I don't ask for a toggle to remove all mentions of religion in the game because I don't like Hawke expressing any kind of belief in the Maker.

Why try to complicate matters, when you've said yourself the game does it perfectly well already?

(also, as a side note, I got Isabela to 100% friendship on my first run and didn't flirt with her once. Likewise, I have Anders at 100% friendship by the end of act 1 while pursuing a romance with Fenris and not pursuing Anders in any way.)

I like that in Thedas, sexuality isn't that big a deal. Seriously, spending so much time in a world where same-sex relationships might be odd, but are perfectly acceptable and aren't considered unholy or immoral or whatever people think it is, it was almost a shock to come back to the real world and remember that it's still an issue for a lot of people. It kinda made me sad that humankind hasn't gotten past this yet. I do, however, love Bioware for making it possible in their games.

On topic, Isabela fits with anyone. She's just...Isabela like that. Fenris I can also see with anyone, but for some reason he didn't click with my femHawke. On my maleHawke playthrough, I originally intended to go after Isabela, but Anders snatched the poor guy up before Isabela could even enter the picture... So I guess Anders/maleHawke. And I know Merrill is viewed as a child by most, my femHawke just couldn't resist. In her defense, I think the girl may have used blood-magic on poor Hawke. But then, it was probably just the adorable-ness...and the accent... It was the same deal with my femWarden and Leliana. Ah, what can you do? Image IPB

I love how people are offended by homophobes and the usage of the words '******' or 'gay' when used to describe something that is not desirable, but they use the word 'retarded' freely. Irony is a hell of a thing.

For me, it's actually that I could never imagine Fenris with anyone but a mage. It's just that much more deliciously complicated that way (I prefer him with male Hawke though). Now, Isabela is clearly a lover of all and all should love her, gender or species or class notwithstanding. And for Merrill, I much prefer a female Hawke that isn't a mage. I am unclear on how any of my male or female Hawkes might end up with Anders, but if they do it's their own damn fault (dammit, Anders!).

Hmmmm..... I never really thought about this other than to wish that they'd made actual sexuality choices and made it part of the character, but...let's see....

Okay, If I was one of the people that decided these things, I would have done it as follows, either because of past conversations/behavior (in the case of Anders and Isabella) or my personal perceptions of the character, including their past histories. No offense is intended to those who feel otherwise.

Anders--straight
Fenris--bi
Merrill--gay
Isabella--bi
Sebastian--straight

I would have liked to make one of the males gay for the sake of diversity, but I just don't see it with this group. In Awakening, Anders shows no interest in males at all, Sebastian seems utterly straight to me, and with Fenris, I think it's genuinely about the person, not the gender. And I have to admit that my choice to make Merrill gay rather than bi is at least partly influenced by finding Merrill with human males a tad visually disturbing. That and I think having gay characters is the right thing to do, both from a storytelling and social perspective--and Isabella clearly doesn't let gender get in her way. ;)

*drops*

But seriously, Anders being bi isn't much of a stretch for me.  Apparently, the Ferelden Circle is all kinds of loose and open-minded.

Heh, I think he meant to catch him--and not in that way. ;) I don't know that we can really assume that the circle is loose, exactly. We know that the mages have liasons from Wynne, but we don't know that they're indiscriminante. The only one who seems to indicate that is Anders, and you really have to take what Awakening Anders says with a grain of salt as it mostly seems geared toward getting a reaction from whomever he's speaking with.

I see Isabela only with female Hawke (romancing her as a male is too cliche), Anders' romance works both ways (but I prefer "straight" variant), Merril I can imagine with a tender male Hawke. Fenris - female mage rivalmance and male rogue/warrior friendmance.

I like my interpretation better. :crying:  It gives me more giggles.

That being said, there's also 'The Calling' to go off (Duncan + mage girl) and comments made by 'srs business' DA2 Anders during the Emile quest.

Anders: The Ferelden circle's more fun.  Everyone was kissing everyone.

Don't crush my dreams of the Ferelden circles being more fun! :crying:

That's a dirty stereotype! In Anders' case it happens to be true but...

And in case there was any doubt, no, I never feel that there needs to be at least one character who is only romacable by a single gender. That doesn't mean I don't mind characters who are, but I never feel they are necessary, or even enhance my experience. All the LI being bisexual, however, DOES enhance my experience. It gives me more choices. I really, really like choices. The closer BioWare gets to Baskin Robbins, the better, and plus I like ice cream.

LOL, okay....
Regarding 'The Calling' and DG's statements... I haven't read the books and I kind of stopped paying attention to what DG said on the forums once he said that Alistair was 20 or 21. ;) I find that gamebreakingly hard to believe, so I don't, be it fact ot not.  I go with closer to the toolset age. Anyway, I just think that things that paint all of a group of people as being the same are less than ideal. Out of deference to MorningBird, though...sure, they're all a bunch of horndogs. ;)

How is Alistair being 32 years old more believable?
