Anyone feel like a romanceable character should be romanced by one gender?

His voice is still very dominant. He sounds so old.

Well, mid-twenties is quite old. It isn't like he has the resonating tones of Max Von Sydow or Anthony Hopkins.

But I feel like this isn't getting anywhere. This is like me walking to a fish telling him how swell breathing air is, tryingt o convince him that breathing air is the superb way to live and that it is far superior to breathing and living in water. But at the end of the day i'm still talking to a ****ing fish.

OH NOE YOU DINT YOU'RE THE FISH AND ALSO A GOOBER?!?! :wizard:

He doesn't sound like he's mid-twenties. He does have a deep, resonating voice (and I think Anthony Hopkins actually doesn't :P). It's also really hard to create a face with the character creator that isn't broad, with a chiseled jaw and sharp features. It all comes together to create the impression of "I AM MAN," which is incredibly unattractive to me, especially when contrasted with this demure woman who's attracted to him ostensibly because he's powerful.

M/f and f/f is the difference between idolization and admiration for me. One makes me feel creepy and the other makes me feel warm.

Keep in mind that fish breathe through water just fine. I'm not saying you can't breathe air, I'm just describing my gills :)

I see Anders as Leliana in reverse, i.e. more suited to a male Hawke just as Leliana seemed more inclined to women. Isabela can easily go either way but honestly I think she would like the idea of taming a strong man. Fenris strikes me as straight. His gentlemanly side is so endearing. Merrill- well, I can really see what ishmael is saying about the creeper thing with a male. I think I'd rather see her with a nice female Hawke.

My real problem is that I'm a mageist. I can't not play a mage. And I'm sort of addicted to romancing Fenris with a mage, but working myself up to make one of those strong male Hawkes for Isabela to whip.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say "yes."

I would be so down with Isabela. And on Isabela. Pick any preposition you want, really. I'm there.

Merrill just likes the way Male Hawke twirls his pike Image IPB

And HOW DARE YOU! What's wrong with me idolizing a woman?!

I'm a hellcat, too. We'd probably end up fighting for it, and that'd make it even hotter.

In a world where magic cures all STDs, I'm not really seeing the downside to Isabela. I'd hit it like a freight train.

Lol! While I admire her ample gifts, I think it's her crassness that turns me off.  And it would a big fight for dominance. Merril on the other hand... the innocence!! Can't resist...
(Damn now I'm picturing her dressed up like a school girl...)

I've watched a few of the youtube vids with the ManHawke/Merrill thing, and it is creepy.  Really creepy.  It's not quite as bad with FemHawke, but there's something in the power dynamic in that relationship that just strikes me wrong.  I'd rather see Merrill paired with an elf of either gender than a human.  It's just... off somehow.

I haven't made anyone to romance Isabela yet.  I'm guessing they'll just end up with Fenris-- either gender, even though I see Fenris as completely straight.  Fenris seems to be my Zev this go-round.

I really love ManHawke with Anders, though.  The overly romantic lines thrown at each other, the bodice-ripping passion without the actual bodice...

While it is more realistic to have heterosexual and homosexual (if you limit one, for the sake of that falsehood called equality, you should limit the other) only LIs... It is better from a gaming perspective because everyone can romance the person they find the most attractive.
(As a gay man... I don't find men like Zeveran attractive at all and was a little annoyed that the "my type" of guy, Alistair, was barred from romancing the me in the game... Thank goodness for PC modding!)

EDIT:

ishmaeltheforsaken wrote...

I like Merrill's f/f romance a
lot better because it's a lot less submissive. It's not really that I
can't imagine her straight so much as I really don't want to, because it
makes me sick to my stomach :P

Leliana's F/F romance feels more organic than her M/F romance... Almost as if she's a closet lesbian only "loving" a man to conform to society.
Or at least, that's what I got from romancing her as a male and as a female.

Nah see I believe a M/F Leliana Romance felt just as natural because she waas incredibly torn up that my Warden made the Ultimate Sacrifice.

Also I found that the Merrill M/F Romance felt very real. The game is written for the character to go both ways and still feel natural.

Hmm, I only play females and have only romanced Fenris. So....Fenris with a female Hawke? I can see Anders with either sex - he seems more interested in comfort from affection rather than worrying about who it comes from. Er, that doesn't sound right, not worried about the gender of the person providing it, is what I meant. Isabela with either sex - she's happy to be equally beneficient. Merril I'm not sure about, she's too cute for me to think about her in that way. She must bring out my hidden maternal instincts.

Which you are obviously not attracted to, and I understand. This is why we won't ever 'agree' on this sense of attraction, because we both value two different ideals of sexual and romantic forms of attraction. This puts us on ends, I could argue that many heterosexual women find a male with a deep voice and prominent jaw to be extremely attractive in a partner, and at the same time i'm sure you could say that many women who are not attracted to men or manly mannerisms do not.
