You essentially get the same conversation about licking lampposts in winter and if I remember right, he says, "my love" to either gender if you're at max approval with him when you're switching between characters. Alas, him vying for the throne and marrying a guy is probably too progressive for a fairly conventional place like Thedas.

Well Morrigan was always telling my female Wardens "I am yours" in that bedroom voice of hers, so I wouldn't get too excited.  lol

No matter how many scenes I watch of FenrisxFemHawke on youtube they NEVER feel right. Fenris is too much of a bottom imo, he works best with MHawke.

Anders struck me as pretty equal oppertunity in Awakening, but just struck me as stalkercrazy in DA2, so I guess he worked. Isabella is a renown ho, so again, she can work with either of them. I honestly have a hard time imagining Merrill as a sexual being tbh :x

I get what you mean OP, first time through with Anders, I just can't try Male!Hawke with him.

I personally think they should have had the set up like it was in Origins, with Sebastian and Fenris and Merril all straight, and Anders and Isabella able for both.

Never said they couldn't.  Doesn't change my opinion however, Fenris pings my gaydar regardless of whether I'm romancing him or not.  I honestly hear the Isabella dialogue and feel like it's so wierdly out of character.

I can't see Fenris with a woman, but he strikes me as someone who would like to mix it up. You couldn't keep him on the bottom, he'd just phase through you, and then he'd be top again.

So a programming oversight then. Ah, well, it doesn't hurt to speculate what could've been because that licking lamppost dialogue with a male Warden seriously threw me off.

On the subject of companions' preferences: Leliana and Anders seem to fit best with same sex PCs. IIRC, doesn't Leliana say she hasn't felt anything for a man until the male Warden comes along? Similarly, Anders' romance was more fleshed out with a male Hawke. I'm not sure why, but the Karl revelation makes his ill will towards templars that much more intense and personal.

I can see characters like Isabela and Zevran going for either, but Zevran's 'I prefer women, but you'll do' declaration sort of confirms his emotional and physical preference for female PCs.

I never felt weird romancing Fenris; he's not exactly a submissive type, especially after being all slavey. I think his lighter build and white hair give people the sense that he's "weak" and thus sub.

I do find it strange that sexuality in this game is sort of a choice as opposed to an inherent part of a characters identity (like it is in real life.) A gay Anders wouldn't be the same person as a straight Anders, simply because it's such an intrinsic part of who you are as a person, and thus as the characters are as people. Yet in the game you can just switch it on and off? Isabela is really the only character that strikes me as purely bisexual in it's utmost honest form, and I think she simply loves sex and loves beautiful people.

LGB status doesn't seem to be as big of a deal in Thedas as it is in our world.

So while one's sexuality and sexual orientation is a big part of who they are as a person, they're not really personality determiners unless, you know, your culture makes them.

What is bisexuality in "its utmost honest form"?

Nothing in the game indicates that anything about the characters' sexuality can be turned on or off. And nothing about any of the characters makes them seem straight or gay, unless you want to dive into false stereotyping.

All the LIs are very believably bisexual.

Does anyone think that the romance pairings would change based on friendship or rivalry? I can totally see rival Isabela with a man, but friendship Isabela with a femHawke instead. A rivalry Fenris would probably go with MHawke, but a friendship with a femHawke?

I'm biased, but rivalry with female Hawke and Fenris is hot as hot.
