Silverite Mines ate my character...

I'm on my first run through the game, and just finished the silverite mine section.  Not wanting to look up the missions beforehand and spoil the plot for myself, I never found out about the Silverite mine bug where you never get any of your main character's items back (http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/The_Righteous_Path) until it was way too late, with all my autosave and quicksave slots either during or after my escape.

I worked hard to get those items, and the thought of restarting the entire expansion because of a bug makes me feel ill.  Does anyone have any other solutions to this dilemma, or even a simple trainer that'll let me create items so I can just recreate all my old stuff?

Silverite Mine is a complete mess and a disaster to the game!
I also find it annoying to restore my equipment later on =]

I'd replay Awakening if you hold your items dear. It's only 13 hours tops if you're stretching it. If you don't want to do that, I'd just finish the game with spare gear from Origins or found at the local shops. There is enough to go around, with Awakening adding some more neat sets as well.

All in all: DA2 doesn't even use the character from DA:O or DA: Awakening, so I wouldn't bother with it if you're already that far in. It's annoying indeed, but even with lower gear the overpowered Awakening abilities make the game very easy.

My warden and the entire party enter the mines completely naked.
Not even an iron ring with no stats.

But if your last save is too far... damn.... I feel your pain.
First time I played that mission I wasn't aware of the bug either... Good thing I make a lot of saves.
Last run in Awakening has around 200 saves :blink:

I was lucky - I knew about the bug before I even bought Awakening. I got hit by it on my first playthrough, but I knew to reload when my character woke up wearing nothing but underwear.

Sorry to hear about your pain. Most bugs I can ignore, but this is one of those bugs that actually makes me a bit annoyed with the devs.

Is there STILL no mod out there that fixes the problem??

EDIT: Yes, there is, apparently:  Silverite Mines Bugfix Anyone tried this?

The only items that get lost should be character/class specific items. They'll say something like, "restriction: blood mage or restriction: Velanna". Also if your warden is an arcane warrior and is wearing equipment that a generic mage could not due to strength requirements on gear, then those items would also get lost.

If you understand how this issue works, then you can work around it. Otherwise, just play it safe and enter the mines naked. You'll then get all of your gear back in the chest next to Armas, prior to the boss battle.

In the future, keep multiple save files for backup, so you have other options than starting over, or playing on, with your character affected by bugs. In this case, a save file right after entering the Wending Wood for the first time would be a good spot. Playing other, far more buggy games (like Oblivion) have taught me the importance of having several save files on hand in case I run across some nasty bug.

Yes, this fix works.  But, of course, you'd only install it if you knew about the bug in the first place.  Doesn't help OP.  Posted Image

Moral of the story...risk spoilers and look all quests up beforehand as to not run into nasty bugs like this one. It shouldn't be necessary, but it is, as Awakening is plagued by bugs. Oh, what could have been...

just got hit by the Silverite Mine missing items curse. and I don't have any pre-SM entrance saves i.e. need to replay the whole game again Just So to recover my items. Has anybody found Bioware's response as to why they didn't patch this?

I had to replay the Awakenings game today because there was a problem with Velanna not showing up previously...but now she did show herself in the Wending Woods and we entered the mine, I had everything on, including accesoires I liked, we got caught and I only had some clothes on when I woke up in a jail, nothing in my inventory, I went on with the game and eventually got everyting back by killing/looting Darkspawn and the chest infront of Amaaras the merchant, so maybe I got lucky here...

SHOULD BE IN TECH FORUM

I never got this bug, which is strange how many of you are getting it - i kept all my items, including cailan's armour.

The party i had:

-Me, mage
-Oghren
-Anders
-Velanna

slight spoiler:

I got all the stuff back when i found the enemies all using them - which made the arcane warrior with my stuff worst, cos he had troll like regeneration - curse of mortality kicked his back!

I'm running into the same problem.
I get Velanna, but when I enter SM the Experiemental Subject with my gear doesn't show up at all.

Here's the particulars:
Playing on a PC;
Windows 7, DirectX 11, 4100 RAM;
Wending Wood/SM is the second of the three Awakening quests;
Party includes Velanna, Anders, Justice, and me [dps Rogue].

I've tried TerraEx's DragonAgeNexus fix [ http://www.dragonage...ile.php?id=1762 ], but when I try to unzip it, I get an error message saying that I can't create .CAB [etc] files and I don't know what to make of that.

Given that this thread was last looked at 18 days ago, I'm gonna post a new thread in hopes of quicker resolution.

Svensson, I'm not sure about that CAB error--I'd also ask around on the Nexus boards, but I'd reload a save prior to entering the Silverite Mines and do the following:

Strip any gear that is "restricted" to a specific character and/or class and put them in your inventory i.e. items that say restricted to rogue/mage/warrior or restricted to Nathaniel etc. Do that for everyone in your party.

Enter the mines. If you wake up with your entire inventory gone and your party wearing only the common clothing, you should be ok to proceed. If you still have stuff in your inventory and you or your companions are still wearing some gear, reload and try again.

If all things go well, you'll find all the nonrestricted items on those experimental subjects as you kill them and the restricted gear and the rest of your inventory in a chest further in the mines. Not ideal, but it is better than losing all of them outright.

Supposedly, there is a problem with the experimental subjects not being able to wear those class/character restricted items, and it makes the entire ambush sequence go all haywire. You'd think perhaps Bioware would put in a script for those experimental subjects to ignore restricted gear or what not.

Not sure if Bioware ignored QA, not enough development time, shoddy workmanship or all three, it's disappointing to see Bioware ship something with this egregious bug in one of their titles.
