I blew up the Collector Base and Arrival confirms I'm no longer with Cerberus.

And how exactly did that happen?

Paraphrasing here, so cut me some slack...

Shepard: I'm surprised you'd come aboard a Cerberus vessel, Admiral.

Hackett: I'm not too fond of Cerberus, but I admire their willingness to act.  Besides... *smiles* I don't think this is a Cerberus vessel anymore.  Do you?

That was probably waaaay off from what he actually said, but I THINK he only says that if you [made certain endgame decision in which things go kaboom].

Yes, he told me to be more careful if I kept the base.

I played Shepard as a BAMF, but he had standards. One of those is that he will NOT support a terroristic organization. I made some pretty bad/harsh choices in dealing with people (I felt bad when I broke up the relationship between the Asari and the Krogan lol) but using Reaper technology as a weapon against the reapers is a bad idea.

Its like the Ring from LotR. Remember what happened to Isildur? One does not simply fly into the Omega 4 Relay and steal Reaper tech to use for human benefit.

Also, I don't really like the Illusive Man. I may shoot people for disobeying my orders, but I sure as hell will not support bringing reaper tech back or working for Cerberus!

Quite possibly. They've got resources and they're the only major group in the galaxy that seems to give a damn about stopping the Reapers.

It's obvious the Council isn't going to be any help. I don't agree with some of Cerberus' more extreme actions, but I trust them to help more than the Council. I'll stay with Cerberus but it will be on my terms, not theirs.

This is a tough one for me, as much as i disagree with their methods and motives i think it would be a lot of fun seeing what TIM comes up with. But if given the choice i would go the Alliance/Spectre route.

Before I decide who I'll stay with, I need to consider who I started with.  I started out a prominent member of the Alliance.

This means the Alliance took a chance on me, invested in me, trained me, gave me equipment and logistical support to do my job.  While not every admiral see's me as an asset, there are leaders (Hackett/Anderson) who do.  When I die, they make the mistake of believing I'm dead.  Wait... that's not a mistake.  Some of the Alliance leaders bend to political pressure and herp a derp about me and what I say about the Reapers.  But in the end I still have strong ties to high ranking and well respected Alliance folk.

The Council is obviously over-worked.  Three people are supposed to keep control over just a vast myriad of issues.  They annoy me and are too busy to see the threat of the Reapers.  They acutally have some pretty good reasons for not believing me sometimes.  They require proof - often I do as well.  The Turian Councilor is jealous of me and a dork, but he's merely overworked and sorta incompetent. Not evil.

The Illusive Man.  Hmmmm.  The problem he creates for himself in my eyes is that he puts himself over everyone else.  After all, we're two human beings.  We eat, drink, and put on our pants the same way as everyone.  So, what exactly gives him the right to steal Jack's childhood?  Or meld an autistic kid with geth?

I don't really know anything about TiM, now do I?  He wakes me up from death, and puts me on task keeping his great digital Eye of Sauron upon me.  He lies to me.  He shows no emotion when having to make hard decision like sacrificing humans on Horizon.  He doesn't show me he's considered alternatives.

Now, he says he wants to defeat the Reapers.  Well why isn't he working on getting everyone together to do so?  If he has Reaper technology, why isn't he sharing it with the Assari, the Salarians, the Alliance?  These seem like logical steps for someone who wants to defeat the Reapers.  The more help you have in the situation, the more likely a solution will present itself.  But no, TiM stays hidden.  Hell, he doesn't even really share is intel with fellow humans in the Alliance.  He prefers to stay in a position where nobody can question him.  Where he has control.  Even if this means his secretive/selfish/methods could lead up to our defeat by the Reapers.

No, I can't begin to know TiM.  He holds himself apart.  Well he can continue to play in his sandbox.  I'm going to make sure I bring the intel he has, and the intel the Alliance has, and the intel of the Council - together.  I'm going to make sure I gather as many of us sapient beings as possible so we can work for self preservation.

The Alliance is family.  They're not perfect.  But I have a relationship with them.  They are going to be my first step in bringing everyone together for war.

And TiM, well, he's got a debt that his victims are going to ask him to pay.

I think it's a silly argument "you would sacrifice the universe just so you won't have to work with Cerberus!?"

Actually, leaving Cerberus gives me a vastly superior position from which to rally all alien species when the reapers come. I can call in the STG through Mordin, etc.

My problem with Cerberus isn't that they make tough decisions, my problem with Cerberus is that they seek out tough decisions and try as hard as possible to ignore the possibility of alternatives.

Put it this way, if I had a 50% chance to save the universe with Cerberus, making for a human supremacy universe, or I had a 0% chance to save an "untainted" universe, I wouldn't pick the better chance at damaged goods. A universe led by Cerberus is hardly a universe worth saving- I'll hurt my chances if it brings me the opportunity of a more agreeable universe.

Yes,at least one of my Sheps would stay with Cerberus, maybe even canon one. Why?

Okay,I admit their metods are extreme, but that's a good thing as much as it is bad.It shows willingnes to act,to do whatever is necessary.Try to remember one thing - entire galaxy owes TIM and Cerberus for saving their lives.Without them,Shepard would still be dead and the Reapers would wipe out all life in galaxy.

Also,TIM is not as evil as some people here like to believe. In Retribution,he shows regret for some of his acts, but does it anyway because he knows it must be done.TIM also proved that he is not just a racist who doesn't want to have anything to do with other species becuse he worked with aliens in both ME2 and Retribution. He believes that humanity simply needs to rise itself above other species to insure its survival.I agree with him.

TIM was right when he said that strength for Cerberus is strength for humanity.

So once again, yes,I would stay with Cerberus because they are not blind like Alliance and are willing to do what has to be done.

Besides, why would you want to stay with Alliance, they betrayed to,after you died they abandoned everything you stood for.Even in ME1 they betrayed you, when they put Normandy into lockdown. And after everything you've done for them, they are not willing to give you a second chance throughout the entire ME2.Nobody is. Except for Cerberus

Given I chose to destroy the Collector base, I think my choice has already been made in my last play through.

That said, I'm not anti-Cerberus, or any of the other factions, such as the Alliance or the Council. They all have their plus and minus points and all need my Shepard at the sharp end of the action, to make the spur of the moment judgement calls.

The Illusive Man is someone with a great deal of power and power they say, often corrupts. Whilst he may have thought saving reaper technology and the Collector base might have been a good idea, for what in his view, were the right reasons, I felt differently. That's based on steering my character through the first hand encounters.

Still, I must admit, I fancy doing a play through where I decide to agree with The Illusive Man's recommendations towards the end, just to have a save I can use with ME3, thus seeing what impact that alternate choice might have.

Do all the sole survivors out there remember that cerberus was responsible for getting Shepards whole team killed on Akuze! That still cuts deep for my Shepard, and will tell cerberus to get f***** every step of the way.

No, I don't want Cerberus with me. The fact TIM always stepped over the line by endangering my other squadmates, nearly got me killed and tried to justify that handing the Collector Base over to him would be a good idea was more than enough for me to "dismiss him".

Really, has anyone read Mass Effect: Revelation? Cerberus nearly doomed the galaxy because of a 'silly little experiment'. To hell with TIM and Cerberus, I'm fighting this war my way.
