Teagan's mention of the Hero of Ferelden.... bug or clever political maneuver?

I don't think there's anything mentioned from Return to Ostagar, I just mentioned it cause all the dlc that seems to have mentions currently are from Origins. I listed it out of habit of listing dlc that takes place during Origins nothing more sorry, but yeah only Wardens Keep and The Stone Prisoner currently have mentions.

well, and Awakening. If you burned Amaranthine, in DA2 you'll meet a Sergeant who mentions that the Warden-commander slayed the Mother.

Personally, I think it's like Leliana and Zevran's possible resurrection (although the latter is reputed to be a bug)--they never said what the Warden was up to 7 years down the road. Presumably said Warden may have taken to wandering about. This may be the first time Alistair and Teagan have seen the warden in years, they just didn't mention it.

Personally, I could have done entirely without the import and the cameos to prevent this kind of annoyance.

Witch Hunt had to happen before DA2 since the only reference to it in game (that I noticed) was Bodhain explaining why Sandal was at the tower during it.

But the timeline seems a little funky overall.

I think its as simple as they altered the timeline. Nothing in the Witch Hunt DLC has to lock it into happening at a specific point in time, it essentially it could easily happen any time between the end of Awakening and the start of the mage rebellion from DA2. Plus I personally think it makes more sense for Witch Hunt to take place later, like after the scene with Alistar, simply because it doesn't make a whole lot of sense for mommy Morrigan to leave her defenseless baby all alone while she goes traipsing about the country side, but if child is a little bit older, than it makes a little more sense.

someone should start up witch hunt and see if the codex gives a specific point in time as to when it's happening.

I would, but I'm playing some PS2 RPGs at the moment.

I wager that they just took a license and didn't worry about making a variance for one fate for just a male warden. While this is not perfect? It's something I just got over. Maybe they will patch a flag check later? but either way it's not exactly game breaking.

Edited to further point out.

Having Teagan say this is also dependent on only if you made Alistair king. Otherwise it's not even brought up at all. So it's asking a lot for so many checks for basically a cheap cameo of Alistair just so he could say some lines that fans of him wanted to hear.

1) I love your sig. Just sayin'. The Merrill part anyway
2) You have a good point.
3) I don't care how many lines they put in there for fans to hear. With Alistair's appearance now, nothing can justify it. I don't care if he goes on a rant about how the very nature of swooping is bad, as long as he's not in his original look, I hate him.

Although now I want to hear an in-depth rant about how the very nature of swooping is bad....

Maybe the Warden's back from wherever they went?

Really I didn't give it much thought. My Cousland Queen didn't go into the mirror with Morrigan. The Circle seemed just fine and dandy at the time, no chaos.
Most likely King Alistair's visit is during the WH events.
What disturbs me at the end of DA2 the warden uniformly disappears as Leliana says. Whether he/she romanced the lady bard or is married to the king of Ferelden, or is simply off somewhere doing his/her own thing. Or is dead. Someone else on the boards said Leliana had the same "warden disappeared" line on a US import.

I think that if you go through the Eluvian with Morrigan that the Warden comes back at some point after he's learned something about the true nature of Flemeth or whatever. And then he goes the way of Revan to fight some great evil from far away only to never be heard from again.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I want Knights of the Old Republic 3 and not some MMO, damn it!

Yeah... we know the pattern already.

Warden goes with Morrigan through the Eluvian, sees an ancient evil and leaves everbody he loves behind to be never seen again.

He is chilling with Revan, the Exile and, the newest addition to the "We leave our loved ones and never come back" Club, Hawke.
