Exploring a universe is always something that generates hype and makes us want to play future installments in a series, and as of the end of all content in ME2 (Arrival) I can't help but notice the grand tour of the Mass Effect galaxy is far from complete. Which leaves ME3, the last game in BioWare's trilogy, with what seems to me at least an impossible number of places remaining to visit in total (and that's just named planets and the like). No doubt we'll be treated to some brand new locales in the game, but out of what we already know to exist where do people most want to be able to go to, and what would make sense in what we know of ME3's context?

I guess this is just an exercise in prediction since I imagine all such conceptualisation for the game will have long since finished, but hey, if enough people want swimming races on the Hanar homeworld they might patch in a quick DLC .

Obviously we can be 99% sure Earth will feature as a major location, but whether will we have an Earth to look around before it gets Reaped is uncertain.

Next on my list is the Turian and Asari homeworlds, Palaven and Thessia. I think ME3 will involve Shepard enlisting military support from powerful races around the galaxy to fight the Reapers at some point, and this could easily see Shepard journeying to one or both of these worlds in order to do so. There's also the Salarian homeworld come to think of it, although less prominence seems to have been lent to it than the origin worlds of the other Council races.

Then we have Rannoch, the Quarian homeworld. We know from ME2 that there is a high chance the Quarians will be launching some sort of endeavor to retake it from the Geth, and you just know Shepard will get embroiled in that *somehow*.

The Geth themselves are another interesting possibility. From Legion we know that the "mainstream" Geth presence represents a fairly colossal force that is not necessarily inclined to aid the Reapers and would be one of the more valuable allies to get on-side when battle is joined. This could tie in with the Quarians, though no-one really knows what the Geth have done since they sequestered themselves or what manner of headquarters they have created.

Last on my list is Arcturus Station, the HQ of the systems alliance. My theory is that we will see this getting destroyed relatively early in ME3, as one needs to pass through it in order to access the relay to Sol and thus Earth. And one of the few facts we have about ME3 is that Reapers at some point will trash Earth.

There will clearly be more destinations that that, but some will be new. I also think theres a chance we'll see the batarian homeworld or more parts of batarian space following the fate of Aratoht in Arrival (diplomatic mission to the batarians to smooth things over? Now there's a real suicide mission).
