Why does dragon age have so many cases of people turning on the ones who were kind enough to take them in? The farmers get a wounded Sten off the battleground, they get slaughtered. The fog warriors take in Fenris, they get slaughtered. Viscount takes in the Qunari, he gets slaughtered Hawke takes in Isabela, the decision bites Hawke in the butt....

Thrask takes in the idiot Grace (yes, I have to insult her everytime I mention her name), and gets slaughtered.

No good deed goes unpunished. If you're going to be nice in Thedas, you better make sure you're enough of a badass to lay the smack down if it all goes bad.

Betrayal makes for good drama.

Despite the respect I have for the Qunari, I find the Geth to be wiser. The fact that Legion starts to question "what did we do wrong?" (makes me want to tear up and hug him btw), is something you probably wouldn't hear a Qunari say, at least now. Also while they do name the other geth as "heretics", Legion does say that they are not wrong. They just have a different perspective, based on the similar equation. But they still need to "die" or be reprogrammed.
Plus, the Geth don't seem interested with ruling over organics. They could, considering how the "heretics" alone destroyed the Citadel fleet with ease and they are just a tiny percentage of the "real" Geth.
Legion is one of the best characters ever (well aside from "their" creepy Shepard fetish. Which is creepy.) and the best development for the Geth in the series.
Also I find the fact that he's an avid gamer (Shadow Broker dlc) hilarious. That entry also shows how Legion bought a game that sends it's profits to a charity fund for Eden Prime.. but never played it. Legion essentially donated to the victims of the "heretics".

Yeah looking back on all that... the moral of the story is.. don't be nice to anyone. Ever.

Adults who are nice in Thedas are ones to watch out for, the fact they have survived this long shows just how badass they are

Adults who are nice in real life are the ones to watch out for too!! No I will not get in your van, and no I will not eat your candy.
Of course in Thedas, Creepy Van Man (for example, Samson) ends up being nicer and more genuine than, say, Mild Mannered Upstanding Citizen (Orsino).

You know what bothers me about Grace? In 3 playthroughs I always get that long haired head morph for Leandra who's face is near identical to Grace's, with the same hairstyle.
I swear if Grace is my long lost sister I'm denouncing the family forever.

Well Grace died and it was arguably your fault and her death also had very little emotional impact on you, so she completely qualifies to be a Hawke family member.

I hate how that idiot kills the one cool Templar.
Stupid freakin plotshield. I would've gutted her the first time I met her if the game had let me. <_<

So does this mean my Hawke has his cake and can eat it too or is Isabela now a thing of the past?

I ultimately decided not to hand Izzy over because the Arishok was being an ass. I mean, he'd been moderate amounts of ass from the get-go, but it was tolerable. But after he's killed the Viscount and who knows how many guards and people that were just in his way, yet he's STILL been given his stupid book back, now he wants to try and make a power play for MORE concessions?
Screw him. He can suck on the end of a lightning bolt.
Exactly - he breaks city law to keep the 2 Elves - then he takes exactly the same position and demands Issabella . He doesn't deserve a honorable duel.

I didn't turn in Isabela this time because as Gamlen said Hawke was slipping it to her. But it just never went anywhere I could see. Then I walk into my house and Merrill shows up wanting some. Well, Isabela just offered it to Zevran just 2 seconds before so if she can have her elf fun, so can Hawke. But now it seems like he's attached to Merrill and not Isabela. Isabela didn't even seem to be mad at least.
So does this mean my Hawke has his cake and can eat it too or is Isabela now a thing of the past?
Isabela's pretty emotionally guarded. She'll happily step aside for Merrill's (perceived) happiness. Merrill and Anders are romance-destroying juggernauts... sleeping with either of them will crush any romance with Fenris or Isabela. Though Varric will likely still say Hawke ends up with Isabela due to the first romance bug.

But Hawke said he'd go off with Isabela on her ship after all was done in Kirkwall. I was thinking that would be a nice import to the next game. lol. I guess I'll be pull up an old save and backtrack it just in case.

Hawke gets the ship offer even if there's no romance... if you're romancing somebody else, Isabela will just say to bring the LI along.

I have heard it doesnt make a difference if you let the arishok have her, she escapes and runs away with the goods. I guess this is BW's way of tellign us she is goign to be in da3 [ god forbid, I really didnt like her. She is totally one dimensional to me, and cliche, she doesnt exhibit any of the depth of character say that Zevran did in dao. an assasin with a heart of gold, she just came off as cliched sex kitten with a heart of selfish slattern. LOL i dont care about the sex thing but it does lend to some colorful descriptions to rip her character apart.
I wish we could stab her to be honest, like she stabs all the citizens of Kirkwall and her supposed friends [ varric and company included] user....
fool me once shame on you, fool me twice , shame on me.
