What should Dragon Age 2 DLC contain?

Ok, so everyone seems to agree that the ending of DA2 was pretty unsatisfactory.  It ends without much of a bang, aside from Meredith going completely apesh*t, which most people could already see coming.

The "gap" that everyone has been talking about that needs to be filled in DA2 is simply new content to keep the rich stories of Origins that people were hoping to be continued flowing.  This should be a DLC that is about the same length (or even longer) than Awakening was for Dragon Age: Origins.  The ending obviously set up for some extension of Hawke's legacy, so the DLC should begin addressing that.  Frankly, wrapping up or even just continuing some unfinished plots from Origins should make the fanbase happier.  I believe what BioWare will have to learn in the near future (if they already haven't yet) is that as interesting as story differentiation can be, you cannot simply force any of the stories from Origins, no matter how small, to be completely forgotten before the gap that it creates destroys the lore altogether.  I say this out of concern for the intentionally overlooked gaps that DA2 has.

This being said, I would like to hear others' thoughts on what future DLC of Dragon Age 2 should bring?  Should it have as much importance as I stress or simply be an addition to the story of the Champion?

DA2 is about the champion, DLC should be about him/her. With the champion choices of love/ the side he/she fought with and against.

We'll probably never know where the champion have gone to, but it happened with the warden, so meh. DA2 is not dark is just depressing.

I thought the ending was pretty unsatisfactory... unless it's going somewhere else. Given that DA2 is a clear continuation of Awakening (at least along the Justice/Anders line), I'm assuming that the reason that the Qunari story (Act II) is great and the conclusion is crap is that they've cut the game off partway through the story. DA3 would presumably follow Leliana and Cassandra in trying to rebuild the chantry.

As for DLC, I want a backstory for Fenris similar to Leliana's Song, which I really enjoyed. He volunteered to be plugged with lyrium to get his family freed - that's incredibly interesting, and potentially good to play through.

I do not think you will get post content not right away anyways.
We will get DLC that takes place inbetween acts

I agree; there is much potential in the companion characters! But as for DLC taking place in between acts...why? That would be kind of boring imo, and probably not of the same quality as some of the DLC's of Origins.

I'm hoping they will eventually implement a canon so we can at least have meaningful consequences for the choices they choose.

I think that is the only way to fit it into the story.
I am not saying that is what I want to see but I think that is what we will get then down the road a expantion pack that may have post content

Some of the devs at BioWare may be thinking that there would be no need for a canon to Dragon Age...maybe they just want to conclude every possible story that they present without saying that it is canon.

Primeval Thaig, Pure Lyrium, Qunari Return, and the on-going war between the Templar/Mages are all very fruitful areas for expansion.

To tell the truth I want DLC where the main character is in it, in DA2 the companions are the same as awakening, the same poor interaction, why add salt to the wound?
Why would i want to play as Fenris? or Merril? We know already what happened to them. Making a DLC about them will make the same mistakes as they did with Lily, just No.

They should add new towns, cities, caves, new adventures.

DA:O is finished... I see no reason to return to anything mentioned in that game. All DLC should be focused on Hawke's adventures, not his father, and not his companions.

The story of Origins is certainly not finished. And even if it was concluded completely, BioWare still wouldn't omit it completely from the sequels.

What are you referring to?  Most of Ferelden's problems are addressed in DA2 in one way or another... what plot lines are still open?

It seems to me like they won't ever be able to refer to any choices from previous games except in a superficial way, at best, though. So when we have these big choices like the Dark Ritual, either they have to make that choice hollow by contriving a way for her to get an OGB either way, or they can only really refer to it in passing... without a canon.

Of course none of that has to be brought to bear in DA2. DA2 is about Hawke. But for DA3...

Anyway, for DA2, I'd like DLC in some sort of environment DA hasn't seen yet. Jungle? Tundra? A lost Elven city? Some really fantastically designed Fade areas? (I still feel like the Fade has a lot of potential they're failing to take advantage of)

Of course, with the kind of level design budget they've given to DA2, and to DAO DLCs, let's just say I'm not very hopeful. At all.

The Old God Baby and the whereabouts of the Warden and Morrigan for one. The true intention of Flemeth. These stories have much potential in them, which is probably why the Warden's disappearance was mentioned at the end of DA2, and said by Leliana to be "not a coincidence" that Hawke too has disappeared.

Morrigan is the OGB!

Indeed. They actually did a decent job of dressing up the ruin in Sebastian's DLC. A better job than the did with any of the vanilla dungeons, anyway.

I'm almost certain that Flemeth's plans are the main theme of this series... whether the Warden ever makes an appearance remains to be seen, but Morrigan will most likely show up. The devs have said that WH flags are not used for DA2, but they are present... so to me it sounds like there might be some kind of appearance by her later on.

The OGB... well, it's not canon, and I don't want them to simply make it so for storytelling purposes... there are a lot of good reasons to turn that down. On the other hand, I hope it plays a part for games imported from Dark Ritual files... and ONLY those games... no more laziness with the decisions. Or whatever the motivation is. There's nothing wrong with having some content inaccessible unless you did something specific in a previous title in the series.

Beyond that... everything is pretty much covered. The Dalish/Werewolf plot, the Architect, the King of Orzamaar, etc, are all continued. Don't expect to hear anything about Connor Eamon though... that's too much of a variable. Again, I'm just hoping they do nothing rather than create a canon decision. Let's just allow DA to continue, and not revisit anything too specific from DA:O... things that can cause conflicts based on player choice, I mean.

Personally, I want more on the Primeval Thaig.  Most interesting yet least dwelled upon part of the game if you ask me.  I wouldn't be at all surprised if that thing is the key to how the darkspawn began, and how they can be ended.  Yet we get barely any focus on the fact that the whole thing is just alien to all known Dwarven culture.  If the wiki is to be believed (I don't know the source of that specific line) then the thing is 10,000 years old.  Let me put that in perspective for you.  6,000 years ago is when history begins, before that is considered pre-historic.  Because that's when we invented writing.  Before that no one had the crazy notion to decide on a meaning for symbols so we could preserve our words for future generations.  And that was barely over half the age of this Thaig.  If its denizens were still around, they'd be colonizing other planets!  But aside from a few lines from Bartrand and Varric when you're actually in it, the surreal thing is never mentioned again.

The Primeval Thaig should have been more significant than just this place you go to get rich.  It is possibly the oldest known travelled location in all of Dragon Age thus far.  The time interval from when that place was made to the time of the expedition is probably the same amount of time it would take for a species to evolve from a Dragon Age type civilization to a Mass Effect type civilization lol.

It would be fun to see a new blight on this messed up thedas, the sixth blight will be very interesting. (but maybe this is better for DA 3, not a DLC).

I guess so. I probably wouldn't have noticed it was re-used if it weren't for that glowing ceiling treasure room.

As long as there's no canon though, it'll probably only ever be "some content" and never anything major. But issues like the Architect and the Dark Ritual could have major implications. To leave them to only ever be hinted at for the sake of not 'violating' players' previous choices feels like a real waste of potential.
