Anyone from BW tell me what the maximum polycount the engine can handle on a character please

Characters can get up to about 10, 000 to 15,000 tris nowadays.

If you want to see the polycount of any particular model, just select "View->Model Information" in the model browser, which will show you the number of meshes, bones, vertices and triangles for the highest LOD version of each model..

Yes I know, but thanks
What I really wanted to know is that if we can push the polycount beyond what BW created in their characters.

The engine can handle models with over 100.000 triangles - however, having many such models on the screen at once will probably hurt the graphics performance significantly - but it depends on the hardware.
How much performance are you willing to sacrifice in exchange for more polys?
