- Apostitute quest: Combat icon and non-combat icon. Non-combat icon results in "Murder Knife! Engage!" I am now curious of what combat icon would result in.
- The aforementioned "I'll take responsibility".
- First conversation with the terrorist abomination, we have pro-mage choice, pro-templar choice, and middle road choice. I pick middle road choice expecting it to be "Not specifically templars, but some sort of education is needed". Instead I got the pope.

"Don't listen to her" (her being a demon) = "You'll be a good ruler"
Sure it sort of makes sense in the context of the conversation, but i figured it would be "Listening to demons is a bad idea, 'kay?". And no icons in this case.

1. I will tell her.
2. You can't go.
I saw the sword icon for choice 2, but I assumed that meant a stern comment about how he shouldn't go to Tevinter. Instead I get my Hawke saying he's too dangerous and then BAM! He's dead.
What the hell?!

Mine was talking to Feynriel in the Fade. He says "Oh, I'm going to go to Tevinter and learn to hone my magic", and he asks you to tell his mum. The responses can be:

2. You can't go.

Sword icon ALWAYS means attacking.

The unrealistic part was actually that not being literate was a big deal. The common man being literate is a very recent development to society. Only a few hundred years ago you were quite special if you could read. Ahh well, some realisms are better off left out, as I found out when I ran across a Morrowind mod that kept track of the PC's menstral cycle.
When you say things like that, can you please qualify it with whatever society you are referring to? Because its not universally true that literacy was rare. Medieval Novgorod, for instance, has pretty widespread literacy. We've found oodles of letters, shopping lists, and similar sorts of things from a wide range of social classes. There's even some references in some of the materials about a Rus princess being disappointed by the illiteracy of her Frankish husband's court.
Roman army documents show more than a 1/3 of recruits able to write out pay receipts and other documents without assistance and some portion of those who needed help could sign their name and other such tasks. Similar functional literacy was very high in many eras in China, too.
Advanced literacy and reading for a hobby and things like that are not widespread, but then they served little function since books and such were prohibitively expensive.

the 'i'll teach you how to read' option to fenris. i wanted to teach him how to read without the whole gay romance thing.
I agree. Why do I have to combine the whole "learn to read&write" with getting in his pants?
Well, it is a lot of effort to put forth for a casual friend. But I do agree. If nothing else, with Hawke's money (which we're not allowed to use because... I forget.) he/she could easily hire a tutor.

The only part of that which could possibly be true is if say someone in England a few hundred years ago maybe didn't know Greek or Latin. But they probably understood and wrote their language perfectly fine. Lets not even attempt to list how people were writing well long before the 1600-1700's. They were reading/writing well over 2 thousand years ago...

I Think When You Say Something There Should Be A Thats Not What I Meant Option So You Can Segway Out Of It :innocent:
Yes, as long as some Bioware writers keep producing less than clear dialogue somekind of "My bad" or "What I meant was..." option would be fantastic.

But one that I can remember was when Fenris gives a ungracious response to a present and one of the options was "Where did you learn your manners" or something like it. And when I selected it was completely soft and literally said nothing about manners.
To be honest this is what is preventing me from replaying the game and why I won't be buying any DLC in the future. If you can't control what your character is saying (or the actions resulting from what you say) it defeats the whole purpose of a RPG.

Turns out what you actually say is, "I have some 'friends' who are mages and they're not bad." ... err ok. Sure that's what that paraphrase meant. Yeah.

So true, I never noticed that. On a related note, after 7 years there's no marriage option. Meh. I guess if it takes 3 years to get in the sack it makes sense?
Well, getting maried in Thedas probably means the Chantry, which wouldn't really work for Anders* or Merrill, Fenris just sleeps with you once then freaks out and Isabela is Isabela, so I'm not sure marriage would really make sense for any of them.
*Though I suppose the Champion's wedding would be a good opportunity to plant a bomb.

That being said, I also had plenty of moments like this in Origins, though the reaction came more from how the NPC I was talking with interpreted the statement, which I assume is how the writers intended the statement to come across anyway, thus being the same issue as with the dialogue wheel.
I still remember when Morrigan got all pissy at me for saying "Why are you here?" thinking I was kicking her out, even if what I thought the statement would mean was "What exactly is your goal here".
Truth to be told, we'll never have a perfect system. Nevertheless, the paraphrasing could use some improvements.

Yea, maybe it's the goatee.
That and I am too influenced by cats. I feel more comfortable attracting people by looking down on them from the bottom of my nose.

Dear lord, half of the "funny" options were like this. They weren't even funny! Just mean. There was one particularly bad one but I don't remember anything about it other than the fact that I shouted "Jesus, no!" at the screen and reloaded at the first possible opportunity.
Is it.....the one where the viscount's kneeling there holding his freshly murdered son and "funny" Hawke said something that was O_O-worthy?

The one I hate was when you are asking Samson about Feynriel when you choose the intimidate option Hawke threatens to turn him into the templars I WAS PLAYING A MAGE. I expected something like tell me or I will turn you into a toad or something.

Everytime i would refuse to do a quest, the answer was never "NO, sorry i wont help you". it was actually usually somethings like "I have to go floss my teeth, but maybe when im done i can help you!!"
Not what i wanted to say...at all

Worst part is my paragon FemShep picked it because her player was annoyed by how touchy-feely the Consort was and it was the first opportunity the game presented to be a jerk.
I really thought I was just going to tell her the gift was crap.
Uh, Hawke. Right. Sarcastic Hawke had a few eyebrow raising moments. Especially early in the game when I was under the mistaken belief that the diamond charm option would lead to a comment that was actually charming. Like after your sibling dies and you end up saying something cringeworthy and entirely inappropriate.
