Holy Smite is just awesome, if timed right, you can fire it off as an Assassin exits stealth to backstab, and interrupt them
Does anyone take the Templar spec for a Warrior?

One thing to remember, Silence and Silencing Stike work on all Abilities. When precast on mobs and bosses, they can effectively lock out a good chunk of time that something can be owning you and your party. Lieutenant Rage Demons and Assassins can be killed before silence wears off and they vanish.

Silence is a great ability but against assasins, I find Bulwark to be terrific. Berserker+Reaver means your warrior more often than not has the highest threat and will be the assasins target. Wait 3-4 seconds as soon as the assasin stealths and hit bulwark..watch the assasin bounce off you

I do that all the time with Bulkward, it makes assassins fights really easy.
You just have to worry about your swishies dying dealing with everyone else because you can move when you have Bulkward on.

Since DA2 treats all special abilities like magic spells, a Templar produces much killing joy when facing ANYBODY. Forget the mages, those damn assassins and teleporting thieves are quickly reduced to red gooey fireworks with a Templar's ability to turn off the enemies' special attacks.

It is VERY amusing on the Brekker fight to grab AoE aggro on 4+ assassins with Holy Smite and then when they all disappear to Bulwark through 5 simultaeneous backstabs.

Yeah, the timing needs to be right. But it's a fun ability..the warrior's short version of DAO force field. Another way to prevent assasins in any mode < nightmare is to have merrill cast tempest on top of your party. assasin are revealed and many times also stunned and slowed. (not mentioned in the spell description..but I have seen this happen so many times now)

im guessing most of the people who actually like Templar in this thread do NOT play on Nightmare. With all these AOEs and magic resistance i see no use for this class. Im gonna try it just for sheer curiosity and the fact that ive ran s&s male 2hander male and s&s female all berserk and reaver. So something different i suppose but im sure im gonna get punished on Nightmare. We'll see...

Hmm. I've only taken the mage through Nightmare, and am currently suffering with my rogue. I am curious to hear how much fun Nightmare players had with their Templars.

Templar is nice. But if you re a dps warrior there is no much point besides speninding 1 point in holy smite.
I havent tested it but people have been saying that magic resistance reduce the duration for party and personal buff such as HASTE and CLEAVE.
Templar would be more suited if your Hawke is a dedicated tank.

You folks are right...As far as I can observe, silence doesn't seem to most of the time on nightmare.

Templar/Reaver is the best option for spirit warrior builds (Allure's Crook/Celebrant). For a more straightforward (classic melee) approach, Reaver and Berserker are both definitely superior specializations.
