Since it works in this thread to.

I just trained my Hawke with Jedi Mind Trick.

Hawke - "These are not the Apostates you are looking for. Move along."

Templar - "These are not the Apostates we are looking for. Move along."

City Guard - "Move along."

Now I love that idea.:o

To be honest, I never use blood magic anymore because, as many of you have pointed out, IT MAKES NO SENSE! I get that pain behind eyes and just give up and erase my saves. Most other problems could have been fixed by simply having Vicount giving you some official status, the Grand Cleric giving grudging approval, have it be common knowledge that mages from noble families get preferential treatment in Kirkwall, or at least have more Templars saying "I don't like you, mage, but we owe you!" Yes, it still would have been stretching credulity to near breaking point, but improbable situations in fiction are easier to tolerate when they are acknowledge by the characters.

Not my work, simply reposting from the Motivational Posters thread.

I laugh every time i see that pic.  It's so true.

It certainly is. Reminds me of the Cullen conversation with an apostate Hawke. "Mages aren't like you and me."

I love these Dragon Age 2 comics. I wish there was a compilation of them somewhere.

BY THE WAY! The author missed something: MAGES can't teleport in Thedas!! Ha. :D

Only you can't. Every other mage is breaking the game lore.

sorry to bring this topic back up, but I just started another playthrough as a mage.

Anyway, the first time you meet Varric he tells you that you'll be rich enough as a result of the deep roads expedition that the templars won't be able to touch you. So I guess apostates don't have to worry about templars if they're wealthy enough.

It is an established fact in DA:O that mages go to the circle anyway even if they had money and status. And that mages aren't allowed outside of Chantry rule. It is therefore impossible for any of the Templars or Clerics to be helping you. Also impossible for you to be exempt from this rule even if you were the "Champion of Kirkwall", a title bestowed upon you by Meredith, ironically.

With the seat of the viscount empty in Act 3, Meredith holds all the power in Kirkwall. She had enough of a say even before that. So it is ludicrous that Meredith does not take in Hawke because it would cause an uproar and such. The Templars are the authority in Kirkwall and moreover, taking Hawke in is perfectly just according to Chantry law. So she only allows Hawke outside the Circle because she wants to, a fact that is also jarring with her established personality.

The Qunari have even stronger views regarding mages than the Templars. Someone said that the Viscount was protecting Hawke because Hawke did him a personal favor and Hawke is the only person the Arishok respects. Tell the Arishok that Hawke is a mage and all that changes. Not to mention that the Viscount is seen to want to maintain a neutral stance between all factions in the city. Being seen as protecting a Mage Hawke would make him seem as though he is opposing the Templars and siding with the Mages, something he would definitely not want.

In short, Hawke being rich and being the Champion of Kirkwall is just a poor excuse for a glaring plothole.

Heh. Great comic. The obvious answer is that lyrium addles the mind.
