I have only ever managed to get Isabella to return to me ONE TIME. And I had to romace her to get it to happen. I dont want to do that on my female Hawke! Can anybody give me a few tips on how to befriend isabella before she leaves with the relic?

Other than being friendly towards her, and getting her Ship in a Bottle gift, I find it usually helps if you ask for money in return for quests (like Fenris' quest in Act 1, or when you meet Javaris).

Also, if you are judgemental, you tend to get rivalry points from her (like if you interfere with the Dalish/werewolf argument on the Wounded Coast, or agree to help Ninette's husband bring her back, or judge Saemus for his Qunari-loving attitude). So try to be neutral.

That's what worked for me, anyway. Hope it is some help.

Bring her along on her personal missions for friendship improvements.

Bring her to the fade and forgive her for turning on you.

Find the ship in a bottle and give her that.


Otherwise you can get very friendly just by answering sarcastic or friendly responses. You know she will return because a skill will appear on your sheet "Isabela's got your back".

You need to get to do her Questioning Belief's quest in Act 2, which means getting her to 50% Friendship/Rivalry before she asks for help getting the relic back. I kind of ignored her on my first playthrough and didn't get her to 50% until after she asked for help with the relic (too late). When I actually paid attention to the things that would get me Friendship with her, it was easy.
