I think the OP isn't very good at making jokes.

Anyway, yeah, I doubt that Liara will be a regular squad member. I hope I get to hear a lot from her though; she's my girlfriend, yo.

Clearly Mass Effect is a symbol for today's world. The Council represents NATO, and the Alliance is the US, striving for acceptance and a place in the New World Order. It is obviously Illuminati propaganda, as a Shepard who defies the council is marked as a "Renegade" and an unsavory character, whereas one who obeys is marked as a "Paragon"- a "good" ideal. Liara, an ally, represents the all-seeing eye with her galaxy-wide monitoring, as well as the "attractiveness" of the Big Brother state. All that evil, packed into the skin of a sexy blue alien babe.

Clearly the predominance of tridactyl species in indicative of the importance of the number 3 to the Illuminati. Plus, if you play the soundtracks backwards, they....aw, screw it.

Just joking, of course. Anyway, I hope she is a party member as I came to appreciate her quite a bit more after playing through LotSB. I'm not optimistic about it, however, as her current job is one that rather takes up one's entire life. I feel comfortable saying that she'll play a very important role in ME3 though.

I think Liara might become one of the main quest givers in ME3. Just a wild guess on my part, though.

Liara: "Shepard, I need you to find me the Sword of Eons and bring me 5 fireflies. I will pay 10 gold each"

Shepard: -   - OK

Honestly, I really hope Liara isn't a squadmate again for the whole game, although I'd really like to buddy up with her for a few missions (and have my fingers crossed that she and everyone else will show up for the Epic Final Battle). I think having her drop all her power and influence to follow Shep around with a pistol would be a disservice to her character, and the writers have tortured her enough already.

If you're a knight, you don't form your own round table and expect the king to join.

Pretty much this.  Also will make a romance w/ her a bit more interesting.

I doubt she will be a full squad member for the entire game but may join near the end.

I think Liara will become the Illusive Man of ME3, hopefully we can still romance her though.

Liara will be a squadmate. She along with the Virmire survivor (Kaidan) have had a huge picture along with Shepard. It seems to suggest "poster character" almost.

Shes one of the few available old squadmates who is certain to be alive (no prizes for guessing the other).

I dont know why some people have this fixation on her not being a permanant squadmate for the game. To not do so would be idiotic. It looks like shes there at the start, so youre telling me Shepard will drop her back off at her base, and shell sit out the rest of the game passing info? No, what will actually more likely happen is the reapers would attack her base.

Everything in the game informer article I saw pointed to her being not just a full time squadmate, but one of the most plot influencial ones playing the part alongside Shepard (in determining the games endings, as they are decided by your squadmates again).

People really should come to terms with this. Its going to take some pretty stupid reasoning after this first burst of marketing to justify Liara only appearing as a squadmate briefly.

Why show her and Kaidan in such a prominant picture if all they are going to do is shunt her off as a side character?

I think she will return in ME3, but I doubt that she will be a party member now that she is the Shadow Broker.

Who says she will stay the Shadow Broker? It isn't exactly a secret where and who the Shadow Broker is. It's not as if we've seen no bigger plot turns. Nowhere is stated that she isn't a permanent squadmember, although nowhere is confirmed that she is either; we'll have to see.

I hope Liara will become a permanent squad member and that it will be the reason why Cerberus is on your tail.

Adding to this awesome post.

She is also the only squadmate seen in action beside Shepard in a screenshots, so far, in Game Informer (against Cerberus Operatives at that).

some people act like now that Liara is the SB she has to be imprisoned on Hagalaz permanently.
And I think now that the Reapers have arrived, the Galaxy will be thrown into a bit of a chaos. It would be illogical for everyone to do buisness as usual.
And how valuabe is the Shadow Broker's Network against the Reapers anyhow, with Shepard and his crew being those who probably have the most info about them already.
And who is to say this Network relying on a lot of agents is still functional after the invasion.

I am glad Liara is back as a squaddie and i hope she will be for the entire game.

The GI article does make it look like Liara and Ash/Kaidan will be major squadmates. I think it would be interesting if she transplanted some of her communication hardware to the Normandy, and then coordinated with the VI and Feron. This would allow her to both act as a squadmate and get info from the Shadowbroker network.

The explain the GI pictures of her in the squad?! Good day sir!

jk, but seriously, she's in the squad with Shepard in a couple of the leaked scans, so I think thats a good indicator.

As a full squad mate? Maybe. As a temporary squad mate? definitely.

I think I would actually prefer to have Liara as a supporting character. Nevertheless I still think it should be possible to visit her at any time in the game and I think Shepard should be able to nail her in Mass Effect 3.

It might be interesting if nobody other than Shepard is available for every single mission, but all the characters announced so far are available for the vast majority of missions. Like, during one or two specific missions, a particular squad member has to go off and run support, so you have to bring someone else instead.

This would make people switch their squads up a bit more, and use everyone. I still think and hope that all the announced characters will be squadmates for the majority of the game, but if they have to use some story mechanic other than loyalty missions to impose a little variety, I'm not opposed.
