Bioware, why did you make the Incisor so utterly useless?

I love ME2 more than anything else in the world and I am just so disappointed that the incisor is so bad....and requires extensive modding to make it useable.

Has anyone tried to use the Incisor unmodded? Just curious...

I tried it. It works well enough...kind of like the Viper although with not quite the punch. It tears through shields a lot better than the other sniper rifles. What makes it unusable is the low ammo pick ups.

It's a nice weapon, but ammo (pickups) are problematic. The times I tried to use the Incisor it only worked at the very beginning of a mission, and near the end - at which point you've collected enough ammo to fire more than once or twice.

With a larger ammo capacity and more shots per clip would make it a useful weapon - as it is, it's just something fun to take along, but not good enough to build a strategy around it.

I'm happy to have weapons I can give to my squadmates that rip through shields effectively. I could be wrong but I look at squadmate weapon loadouts as being an underappreciated part of the game.

Devil's Advocate: It's underappreciated for a reason :) They don't seem to do tons of damage with weapons so why should people care??

I would love to use it if the ammo pick-up would a little bigger. It's just insane you get 2 ammo for a weapon that fires 3. I actually like it, and I would use it way more if I could edit the ammo magazine and the ammo pick-ups. It's really a nice weapon and one of the coolest weapon design(If I could, I would replace the Mattock skin with it).

That would be really cool! The Incisor looks great and I always feel Shep looks like a construction worker walking around with the Mattock.

LOL Boz'  ... that's why you're the man!

Back to the Incisor I really like the sound it makes when you touch it off.   It "feels" like what I would expect & hope.

As far as using it I think it would work fine on some of the shorter N7 missions.  Esp. the rescue the Operative mission ....

give this weapon to zaed or thane and you will have a fresh new perspective.

That's what I do.  Squadmates have unlimited ammo, and any of the sniper rifle trained characters can do a lot of damage with it.  I usually have Thane carry it for RP reasons, as it seems like the sort of rifle he'd like.  I usually have Garrus carry the Mantis.  Zaeed I will switch up based on needs.

Good idea on the RP weapons loadout. Honestly I rarely take Thane. I usually give both Garrus and Zaaed the Incisor and they [usually] do a good job with it.

No, I think you're right.  Squadmate weapon loads are very underrated.  That being said, the Incisor excels at tearing down defenses are sniper ranges, meaning that Shep is almost always going to be the focus of enemy fire.  Even without the little bug on the Incisor on squadmates, allowing your team to do crazy defense-stripping at long range is an unbelievable advantage.

Well yeah, have two squadmates with Incisors and the game practically plays itself. They never miss with it and it doesn't get the normal damage reduction for squaddies. For Shepard, it's a fun weapon that's severely crippled due to the ridiculous ammo pickups.

Even better take Squad Cryo, have two squadmates with Incisors, and you can take coffee breaks without pausing.

So at the end of the day, the Incisor is not so great for Shepard. But it's God's gift to your teammates. I still tend to give Legion the Widow though. All in all, it's far from utterly useless.

Well, I managed to finally mod it; I doubled the ammo capacity 30>60, tightened the spread and upped the damage to almost viper levels and now it is a great Sniper Rifle!

^ My way of modding it is less drastic. I simply adjusted the 3 bullet burst to a 2 bullet burst, and adjusted the single bullet damage accordingly from 50 to 75 so that each burst's damage remains the same (150).

Oh, and the magazine size from 15 to 16 because it should be divisible by 2.

This makes it 50% more ammo efficient, and picks up 50% more effective ammo, nothing else. I find it comparable to the Viper then.

Can you guys share your mods? I would love to test it. Also, if it's not asking much, can you make a 18/72(3 shots with  extra 4 clips)

I was pointed to this post a while back to mod the Incisor.
For the looks of it, it seems like a pain.

@stardusk

Did you use those instructions to mod the Incisor ?

I've followed this guide and all that I managed was to make my game unplayable(everytime I zoomed with any weapon, I got the slowmotion effect, BUT, it only slowed my character, everything else was normal )

So, moding is not for me :crying:

This.  Though it can stand to get a little love in ME3 damage-wise.  A semi-auto toggle would be nice, too.

Damn....
I followed those instructions as well and nothing... not even a bug. All changes I tried  were ignored :(

Anyone ?

To me its just a rifle to take out shields then follow thur with a heavy pistol to fin off enemies, it works wonders if Zaeed or Garrus uses it, I've been using them more just for that reason as squadmates , they take out enemies and shields faster wielding the Incisor then using the mattock, certain weapons and powers just seem to work better for squadies than Shep

Well, the tricky thing about modding the Incisor is that there are two versions of it and you may have both. One version overrides the other, and you may have modded the one overridden by the other.

Both versions are in the BioGame => DLC folder. One version is in the PRE_Incisor subfolder and the other one is in another folder (which also includes the Kestral Armor set). I'm sorry I can't remember which exactly - I uninstalled ME2 some time ago to make room for others.

Anyway, it's better for you to delete one of these Incisors and mod the other so they don't conflict each other.

After you find the correct version of the Incisor, go to the BioWeapons.ini. In that file you'll see a bunch of weapons properties. You'll notice that all weapon properties (such as burst size) are duplicated - there are 2 entries for each. Modify them both if you wish, but only the second set of properties actually affect the game.
