I just recently bought a new computer and installed DA2 there, and I copied the ENTIRE subfolder from "My Documents" (the one with the overrides and characters) from the old computer to the new one. I had already played through once, and am replaying with a second character.

Then this:
When I try to load any saved game from my second character, the system says something like "Save data cannot be loaded as a required patch is missing".
I checked through, and updated everything there was to update, including the 1.01 patch and the Hi-Res. I have also checked that all the addons and override files I had in the old computer are in the new one.
Tried again and again with the same problem.

HOWEVER, here's the strangest thing:
While I cannot load the saved game from my latest character, I could load the saved games from my character from my first play through.

How do I fix this? PLEASE HELP!
I've looked around on forums for an answer but nothing works!
thanks in advance!

That happens when the build # of the game (stored in the save file) mismatches the actual game version. You can edit your save file and change the version/build # to match that of a save that is working, which will force the game to load it. You need pyGFF 0.5.1 or later to edit DA2 save files.

you want section 16004 of the save file
expand that
then you want line 16770 SAVEGAME_BUILD_NUMBER
change that value to match the value from a save that works
Your game should then load.

Thanks for the quick reply!

I'm downloading this: gff4editor-0.5.1.7z

By "change that value to match the value from a save that works", you mean I should reference the value from another save file, even with a different character yes?

Thanks again!
