Well in the real world Apostate means someone who abandons their religion. There are differnt versions of the word apostate, but they all have the same meaning. I imagine Tal Vashoth is just the Qunari version of one who abandons the Qun. Once one becomes Qunari they are considered one of them. I don't think you can go back. My bet is with Tal Vashoth. The Angry One wrote...
Which makes me wonder... if you are bas and convert to the Qun, then for whatever reason leave it, are you Tal-Vashoth or are you bas again?
So human/elf babies

Feynriel seems "prettier" than the average human, but that's about it. And why on earth did his mom pick the dad? Gross, especially since the mom is one of the less hideous elves.

Didn't Morrigan try getting with Sten in DA:O?
It sounds like the Qunari mating process would tear a human in half
Or Sten was joking.

Nope, she was talking about baby Alistair, who was fully human despite her being his elven momprimero holodon wrote...
Maybe what she means is that human/elf children are considered human, similar to how somebody who is half black half white is generally considered black

She did not say that at all. Just that the elves would see him as human.thurmanator692 wrote...

From The Calling by David Gaider
The boy even looked a bit like Cailan. Maric also noticed that the boy's ears were quite round.
"He's human," he exclaimed out loud. Really there should have been something better to say, but that was all he could think of at the moment.
Fiona nodded. "That's why we say together in the alienages, mostly. The children of humans and elves are human. If we interbred, we would die out."

Really? David Gaider's post here seems to imply differently:

So it wounds to me liek they'd be Qunari, unless there's another word for non-qunari who have accepted the Qun, beyond Viddathari or Basalit-an...
