Should I feel bad that I loot the Hanged Man in every act?

Yay or Nay?

I mean this is the local watering hole, the place that Isabela hangs out and Varric lives.  Should I feel bad that as soon as a new act commences I make my rounds of the rooms to loot moth eaten scarves, trousers, a few silvers and the odd ring?  Does Varric have to pay these people not to turn in his Kleptomaniac friend Hawke?  I just blame it on the 'Talkative man' anyway as he is always wandering around and in Varrics room half the time.   :bandit:

Think of all the free publicity they get by being frequented by the Champion. They get more than their money back.

The search for booty can never end, must never end, and shall never end.

All the other party members have Varric pay to keep them safe. Why shouldn't Hawke?

I simultaniously cringe and agree.

And that does show another endearing part of Varric.  He should be as rich as Hawke but he is still in his room.  Putting people on his drink tab and often paying protection money to help his naive friends.  I would have liked if they had a cutscene of you coming into his room and him talking to some 'friend' of his who he is paying off to look out for Daisy or Sunshine.

I find it bit silly that the character can just go around and steal stuff. But alteast its junk thatyou can sell in this game and thats a bit more realistic than coins all around town.

Never feel guilt for looting. "I know that a dangerous mage serial killer has my mother, but we have to go search through this sparkly crate! The order dictates!"

It isn't so bad in the tavern as usually no one is there but when I talk to Aveline and tell her she is doing a good job and then loot the chests in the other guard rooms with the guards standing there it isn't so good.

You are no true adventurer until you have robbed everyone blind of all of all the things they leave lying around their houses and pubs. Don't worry they expect you to do it, that way they know you are the real deal. Just think of it as the Hero's Tax, that what I do ;)

Upon gaining access to the De Launcet mansion (to find their mage son who has escaped from the Gallows), I'd proceed to rummage through their drawers and chests after the lady has retired to her room. I'd also helpfully disarm their deadly traps to get at the more expensive stuff. They could hurt themselves really bad triggering them by accident!

Oh sweet Maker, the de Launcet mansion... 'Yes, let's install GIANT SPIKES that pop out of the ground and regular intervals and WHIRLING BLADES OF DEATH to protect our junk worth about a sovereign total!' Crazy people, those Orleisians...

I do kinda wish there would be other, better ways of gathering funds.   You can of course RP it but I think folks should get upset if you walk into their room and steal their stuff while they are in and can see you.

The ale there doesn't even give Hawke a buzz,or make the room spin. Rob them.

I feel bad that kleptomaniacs like us have to check every section of Kirkwall multiple times to re-loot barrels we've already looted just to get that last moth-eaten scarf.

Yes but don't forget you get a few silvers each time which eventually adds to gold which means eventually you can use that gold to get an expensive item.

You find cheap worthless stuff in the game that isn't worth much but yet the stuff that the merchants sell cost a fortune. Go figure that one there out.

Nobody gives me a steady income in the game. I feel bad about it, but if I die from hunger before the end of the game then Anders would never have blown up the Chantry. So, I only do it to survive and help Thedas. Really. :P

I almost felt bad ... until I found torn trousers and moth eaten scarves. Then I realised I wasn't stealing, I was actually taking out the garbage. I should get paid for that.

Hawke - Kirkwall's garbage collector.
