Why is Blood Magic considered bad? Here are a few reasons.

1 it was used heavily by the imperium rulers who are not nice people by all accounts and is believed to have been involved in corrupting the golden city and creating the first darkspawn so historically it has a lot of baggage.

2 It allows you to control other people's minds a lot easier that regular magic. Controling another's mind is a bad thing and given the Chant of Light about magic not ruling men this is from a religious point of view very bad.

3 It can give you power without the normal limitations. Most magi have limitations on what they can do. They have to use their own power and even boosted by lyrium that will only get you so far so if you want to do great things you have to work really hard and possibly exhaust yourself. At its extreme Blood magic gets around this. You don't have to sacrafice yourself, you sacrafice your vicitms like the magisters of the imperium use their slaves. You are essentially becoming a vampire who uses other people more than likely without their consent to fuel your spells. That is bad initself but if your the sort who want's power without having to put yourself out too much you are the sort of personality where magic will probably go to your head and you will not be a nice person to know.

4 Blood magic does not make you an abomination straight away but one of the simplest ways to learn it is to do a dealw with a deamon and they never work out well. Even if you read up on it in a book to break all those social tabooes to study/use blood magic would tend to make you either desperate or rutless (I get what I want and to hell with the world attitude). Its just me but that sort of personality type is probably very vulnerable to having a demon offering you all sorts of treats and suddenly your an abomination. That has the knock on effect of making most people (rightly or wrongly) associating blood mades as abominations or power hungry

To summorise due to historical and religious reasons only stupid or power hungry poeople tend to use blood magic so blood magic in turn becomes associated with stupidity or ruthless pursuit of power which is considered bad if not downright evil.

Yea, this is precisely the kinda things I wish to avoid in threads, we already know blood magic is blah blah blah bad. I just wish to discuss if blood mages (evil or not) are more suscepitable to demon influence.

The Codex entry about "The Forbidden School: Blood Magic" says that it was originally just used as a different way to power spells before its additional power of mind control was discovered. There are several advantages of blood magic over regular magic, some of which are more likely to be evil, some are not:
(1) You are independent of lyrium. Which makes blood magic highly advantageous for apostates. This is a neutral power.
(2) You have the option of learning to control minds. This is most likely to be evil.
(3) You can use others' blood to power spells. This is neutral if the sources are willing.

There is no intrinsic link with demonic possession. My interpretation is that as a rule, only demons have the knowledge at this time since it is suppressed. Once a blood mage acquires that knowledge from a demon, she can teach it to others without further demonic involvement, though the demon may lie about demonic possession being necessary. If a blood mage manages to acquire the knowledge without demonic involvement, she will be able to use it like any other magical power source.

This make sense, remember in origin, the only way to learn blood magic specialization was to make a deal with the demon, but in awakening you can just buy a tome from a vendor.
