I am so furious at this problem. I downloaded Arrival the day it was released. I got the email, spoke with Hackett in my cabin, saved my game, went back to dashboard and purchased the Equalizer pack for fun, and now Mass Effect 2 freezes every time I try to boot the game up on the animated EA logo.
Details:
I have installed both discs and tried booting with both discs
I have deleted and re downloaded Arrival and Equalizer pack three times and done the same for ALL DLC twice
I have cleared my cache and tried running game with AND without reapplying updates
I have tried running game connected and disconnected from XBOX Live
I have tried deleting both Equalizer Pack and Arrival and problem still persists
Basically I have tried everything except lighting my XBox on fire which I don't think would help but is starting to sound appealing
Does ANYONE else have a problem this severe since Arrival? I've heard of the error messages peoplehave saying DLC isnt present, or not being able to start the mission but I haven't seen anyone mention a problem this severe.
As most of you probably suffer form the same addiction I do, you know that being robbed of this game entirely is a compeltely miserable experience.
Somebody please PLEASE help if they know anything about this at all. I am at my (numerous expleteives deleted) wit's end.
Since downloading Arrival, ME2 will not even boot up past EA logo

Okay so I deleted everything except saves and booted up offline and tried to run. It made it all the way through the EA logo animation which gave me a shred of hope and then froze on the black screen. Trying other disc in same circumstances and then will try with updates.

Okay so now I guess I will try installing the discs again. Does anyone know who I send support complaints/calls for help to?

Man that sucks, seems like arrival and/servers have screwed things up for a lot of people. The only thing extra in your situation may be to call EA customer support, however I think they'd only get you to do all the things you have done already...

Yeah kind of like when you go to the doctor and they say "Yeah, you're sick. Rest up and go back to work on Friday". Thanks for the in depth help, doc.
This happened to me with Pinnacle oddly enough too. Final DLC's apparently hate me.

Have you tried to play direct from the disc themselves? I.e., not installing them to the HD?
Also, out of curiosity which model of the 360 do you have?

Done with and without installs and I have the old fashioned 360

There goes my theory that the new Slims are more vulnerable to certain problems then.
It also seems 'safe to say' though it is of course of no consolation, that the thing is glitched very badly. That pretty much exhausts any contribution I can make. Hopefully there's a fix in the works for the problems quite a few gamers are having with Arrival.

That part is making me think it's the same issue I still have. Everything working fine until I installed the Arrival DLC, but since then something keeps corrupting my autosave. I have to copy the save file across to my PC, delete the autosave and copy it back.King J Steakle wrote...
Okay so I deleted everything except saves
If I don't, the next time I try to play I get the title screen, press start and *boom* black screen and a lockup.
Even if I do, I can only save once... try and save again and another lockup. Load a save after starting the game... lockup. Every time the only fix is to delete the autosave, it's driving me mental.

EAArtelis, is there any specific reason as to why you copy your save files before deleting your autosave? (It just seems easier to delete the autosave from the HD is what I'm thinking.)

Do you mean deleting it from within ME2? Once I have that corrupt file issue, I can't get past ME2's title screen to be able to see my saves and delete anything. And unless I'm missing something obvious (entirely possible!) there's no way to delete it from the xbox dashboard, with all saves for one character being squished into one file.
So I copy it to my PC via a USB drive and delete the autosave from within that one file.

Try this, delete all games of hard drive. Clear cache. Delete all DLC. clear cache. Reboot system.
REinstal DLC and play only from Disk. Also try to see what is your last good save and replay from there. Hope his helps.

Ah...OK. Also had a quick look on my HD. Hadn't realized ME2 save files are like that (I'm sure ME had separate proper saves). Hm...flimsy system.

A friend of mine confirmed that if the game is unplayable past the "Press the Start Button" at the beginning of the game it means that the Auto Save is corrupted. It can be fixed by opening the save file on a PC and using specialized software to remove the Autosave. None of the other save files seem to be corrupted, simply the Auto Save and the problem appears to be continuous after the Arrival DLC is loaded

Wow, thanks for all the support. I was so fed up I ignored the board for a couple of days and when I came back you all had posted tons of ideas.
It sounds to me like I have the worst possible problem with this corrupted auto save. I REALLY wish they hadn't compressed each career into one save file. I know the multiple saves seemed cluttered in ME1 but this problem would be so easily fixed with the old files.
So it seems I may be forced to try and do that auto save deleting but I will be honest, I have ZERO idea how to get that done. If people could point me in the direction of a FAQ or some such the explains what software and hardware I need I would be very much obliged.
Thank you all again for the help.

I have isolated the problem to my Gamer Profile!!! This is so bizarre! I can run the game just fine with my room mate's account or without any account signed in but if I switch to my profile in game it locks up. Does anyone have an idea how this could happen or what I could do to fix it?
Will repost as new thread too.

I'm having the same problem as you my auto-save is not corrupted its my main profile.
I tried running with a different profile and I had no problems.
Try creating a new profile

The game will not resume for me. Soon as I hit the resume option, it keeps telling me that various parts of my dlc are missing (usually Zaeed & Firewalker, but at times it can be all) & cannot continue! This has only happened since the Arrival dlc.
If it's a dodgey dlc, why hasn't it been patched or replaced already?! Have Bioware even commented on these problems a lot of us are having???
I love playing ME2, but at the moment, the game is unplayable for me! Can you please get this sorted asap please Bioware?
Thanks
