Holy Smite works perfectly for me when used as intended - a wave of spirit damage radiating 8m out from my Templar specialty Hawke. However, I accidentally found a way to make it a ranged attack using tactics. I meant to build a rule saying if Hawke was surrounded by three or more enemies he should use the Holy Smite ability. What I actually build was a rule saying that if three or more enemies are clustered he should activate HS.
I didn't see a problem (aside from wondering why he wasn't using it more often when surrounded by enemies when I was controlling a different character) at first. But then I began to notice that when a battle began and a group of enemies appeared they would often take a blast of Spirit damage, even though my party was still far away from them. I finally thought to check Hawke's tactics and noticed the mistake.
Now I'm wondering if other AoE spells that are meant to be centered around the caster might be glitched/exploited the same way. I haven't had time to test that yet...
