Overall, DA:O. (Platform: PC)
I do think the new Qunari look pretty good. They should restore their bronze skin, though.

Overall, Dragon Age: Origins. Keep the new Qunari, the new staff animations and the new Flemeth.
I played it on the PC.

i saw someone post there dislike for flemeths "new look" and it leads me to bringing something up that i often mean to but decide not to.
DA2 is told by varric, its not you playing as its happening. Sure varric gives the impression hes being completly honest, but i seriously doubt he would be able to restrain imbelishing things.
I think varric hyped up flemeth because a crazy old lady in rags wasnt epic enough.
edit: probably the same for several other things in the game.

DA2 is basically modeled on Orzammar from DAO
i'd probably have to say DAO (PC) at the end of the day just because of the sheer variety in art styles and how packed in everything is and how much more organic things are, and because i loved the fade in DAO (i'm a minority) and DA2's fade is just kirkwall with a smudge filter over the screen
as far as changes to the Qunari/Elves/Flemeth/Darkspawn/etc. go i thought all of those were fine, i think given that we already know who flemeth is in DA2 it doesn't make sense trying to hide her status... whereas it was cool and surprising in DAO that she appeared as an old lady, and darkspawn in DAO looked like turds wrapped in armor anyways so there was no where to go but up... with the one exception being the Ogre which looks dumb in DA2
and for the record, art style != graphics, but how it's presented can affect how desirable an art style is

DA2 - PC
DA:O's models, animations, and overall graphics were atrocious. Qunari and elves have a unique look now. The only thing I'd want to see reverted are the Darkspawn, not a fan of the new ones.

DA2. the new elves and qunari are great. they actually look like different races rather than slightly shorter humans with point ears and tall dark skinned humans.they actually looked unique and itneresting.
the new darkspawn arent so great, but meh, i dont care about the darkspawn they were an extremely boring enemy to fight. mindless evil people? .....how fun......:|
as far as animations go, i'd prefer something in between. not as dull as DA:O but not as over the top as DA2.
but overall i greatly prefer DA2, its far less genetic feeling.

Spikes for spikes' sake? My 12 year old cousin could come up with something more engaging. I think I outgrew the unsubtle 'spikes and skulls' art style when I outgrew the childrens' Saturday morning cartoons DA2's art director clearly got his inspiration from.

DA2 generally, PC.
When I think of them, they don't really feel a whole lot different for me to have a strong opinion one way or the other, though.

The art style was one of the things that I actually didn't mind in DA2, besides that elves looked like shark people and, again, the combat looked really stupid. Just, damn.
The environments were more detailed in Origins though, and the lighting was better, so, yeah:

DAII - PC
Really, really tough call. While I don't agree with every decision the art team made, I do agree that Origins didn't really have a "style." But, Origins looked more complete. In DAII, they took all the books out of the Circle tower (****ing Mike Silverman douche). But I like the new armors and weapons, and I like the new elves.

There were some things I loved in DA:2 but the cartoony darkspawn were a complete and utter joke.

DA2.
XBox360.
Although I preferred the art style of the second, the level designs and use of generic non-human character models was extremely sad.

i own DA:O on both 360 and PC and even the 360 version feels superior than what we got with DA2
so the answer is DA:O
so the answer is DA:O

DA 2 Human face design and body model but less colorful cartoonish style. Saturate the skin texture slightly to make it more realistic than look comical.

The art style in DA2 couldve had potential but now it just looks like a cartoon. 80% of DAO and 20% of DA2 and something amazing mightve happened.
Also Tommy6860 your quote: "EA is alien, unknowable. Perhaps they need slaves or resources. More likely they are driven by motives and goals organic beings cannot hope to comprehend. In the end, what does it matter? Your survival depends on stopping them, not on understanding them." is pure awesomeness.

DA2 (on PC). It's one of the things they really got right IMO. The redesigned races and the new armour designs especially.

DA2, PC.
Although on its own DA:O has some pretty decent art, despite the limitations of the engine, when compared to DA2, Origins had around a dozen somewhat different bland and round-ish modells for humans and everyone was a very slight variation of these basic templates. I was quite alarmed when I saw the doppelganger of my Warden fighting at Ostagar, not to mention that Ser Cauthrien has to be a cousin to my heroine. I took the qunari for some exotic tribe at the beginning, not a distinctive race, the elves were quite the men, the Tevinter Imperium had some pretty lousy sculptors and architects who wouldn't agree on whether they would go for the menacing spiky tall towers or the elven_LotR_movie-Oblivion type of mellow forms.
