what i prefer= DA:O PS3 ( it seriously hurts my eyes when i look at DA2 too long- no joke)
what i liked from DA2:
- i like the new qunari designs better, it never made sense to me when ppl got scared when they saw sten.
- i also like the slight improvements in the human designs
- armor and staff designs
- Mage and archer attack animations
- all areas that are not (or look like) the streets of hightown/lowtown/darktown, or the blighted lands.
Survey: Which visual style do you prefer?

I would prefer a middle ground between the two art styles.

Really once we got by the horrible armor on the darkspawn - which we'd seen in pictures and was so jagged I thought it was an alpha build -I didn't have much of an issue with art design in DA2.
I liked the revisiting of the races. The different looks worked for me and I really got to like the Qunari re-design.

DA:O all the way. While I didnt hate DA2's art style, I did not like what they did with the Elves. If anything the elves and the darkspawn designs is what made the game feel to anime for me. I love the new Qunari. I just wish they brought our sten back for this game. Also love the new attack styles for Archers Dagger wielders and Mages as well as the new Armor designs although I reallly dislike a certain leather armor that looks like a butchered Leather armor from Origins.

DA2 - PC and PS3.
DA:O looked very generic compared to DA2. I was especially impressed with the new qunari, elves and Flemeth! =)

As far as race redesign goes: I liked the change to the Qunari, but I disliked the change to the elves.
I think the biggest turn off with the elves is how the "generic" city elf looks. The design is just such low quality, they look more like something you would see in some sci-fi game from the 90s.
I'm not completely against how you designed every elf. I thought the "unique" elves were fine. Bioware just needed to spend more time on generic elf look. It looks like you just took the base elf design and spammed them across the city. Every once in a while you added a bandanna or hat, but it just made them look like cancer patients going through chemo. i.imgur.com/7Iaaf.jpg
It's really frustrating because it would have been so simple to make a better looking generic elf design. Instead we got this hairless fish-like creature that creepier than any darkspawn I've ever seen.

DA2. PS3.
I like the new elves. At first, I wasn't quite sure, but the more I played the better my opinion of them got. They look different form just about every other elven race in video games.
The qunari look alright, aside from the Arishok and the mages, who are amazing. I'd have to see hornless qunari to fully form my opinion however. Not bad overall. Not bad.
Appearently I'm also one of the few who prefers the darkspawn redesign. Both the hurlocks and shrick mages look great. I was disappointed there wasn't more diversity to the hurlocks (DA:O had at least 2 slightly different models) but seeing as they only appeared in 2 or 3 locations, it's understandable. Just as with the qunari, I'll need to see the genlocks and other darkspawn variations to form my opinion to the fullest.
Architecture-wise, DA2 holds up nicely. Kirkwall looks marvelous and dalish landships look like actual landships.
Weapons also look great, especially the mage staffs.

they did teh same thing with the humans too, spammed teh same low polygon character across the maps. using the worst example taht was obviously made thinking people wouldnt bother looking that close isnt the best example when taking in the style of a game. though on the other hand i think they shouldnt of had the rediculously low res models tehre anyways. forgive my horrible spelling, small keyboard, big hands.

Dragon Age Origins.
360.
I never thought I'd say that either. It took Dragon Age 2 to make Origins look pretty!
Can we just pretend it was all in Varric's head? Including all the Lightsabers and force jumps at the end? Pretty please?

While I think the first one generally looked better in size and scope:
I prefer the new Elves, Qunari and I like some of the pointy armor elements like Hawke's and the Darkspawn suits for example. Other than that to be honest the game didn't look THAT different from Origins.
The real major flop in the art design was the Darkspawn themselves and people exploding all over the place. The original DS weren't great but they look much better than what we were given in 2.
I do have to say I miss Origin's "painted" look though.

DA:O
Darkspawn
Overall characters
Overall scenery (more detailed)
DA:Kirkwall
Better graphics, but brown, brown, brown...
Qunari: seeing females and more variety on the males would've been nice
Work in Progress...
Elves: maybe weapons are now weightless so that the emaciated elves can wield them.
Sure, DA:K has better graphics and they should keep on improving that too. However, IMO, DA:K squandered graphics (or thought that would be enough) with quite a minimalistic art style. Just compare the amount of work done to scenery and overall details in the original. THAT is what I hope they'll improve.
A city that doesn't change at all in 7 years lacked ($$$) love from the art department.

DA2, it is clearly better in every way as graphic wise. I would be disappointed if they went back to DAO

That beeing said, the coast in DA2 was very beautiful made and Kirkwall is quite nice too, the first times you walk through it and if it had been just a city in a big land,.. like Denerim.
I want DA:O Style with updated graphics.. nuff said =)

For the most part I like the visual style of Dragon Age 2.
I think the Darkspawn look a lot cooler and more original than the flat faced humanoids from the first.
The elves....eh...some of them looked fine but them some of them looked completely goofy (it's a shame what they did to Zevran). Hopefully they will refine them a bit. I think what bothered me about many of them were the eyes....they were spaced too far apart (again, Zevran is a prime example).
The Qunari looked very cool to me; however, their appearance makes them look inherently evil (this probably is due to the fact that they resemble....um...SATAN).
I think that the character models in general were much better. In DA:O (on the 360 at least), many of the NPC's had a weird, clay molded look to their faces in the cut scences. This was also noticable in the character creation (where I think D.A. 2 is much better also...and thank "the Maker" for the Black Emporium. I spent a lot of time refining my Hawke's appearance).
I do prefer the more European architecture of Origins, but that is just a difference of country and culture (since Fereldan can be compared to England and Kirkwall feels a little more Eastern).
Whatever art style Bioware chooses for the third, I hope that it does not once again change too drastically from either Origins or D.A. 2. I REALLY hated the character models of Zevran (redesigning of the elves aside, they didn't have to make him look so goofy) and Alistair(he even looked PS2 in quality to me) in D.A. 2.
