Since I was looking for the link early for another thread.

Here is why the horns on the Arishok are the way they are.

People keep saying that.  The cinematic trailer was done after the game was like 2/3 finished.  It would be more appropriate to say that all that stuff appears the way it does in the cinematic trailer because that's the way it appears in the GAME.

Otherwise the Arishok would probably be the same color he is in the trailer as well. :P

@TMP: Awesome, you're modifying Sten on DA:O to look more consistent with DA2. I really like what you did with his hair, keeping the cornrows. Are you going to do that for the Tal'Vashoth encountered in the game as well, and possibly release it as a mod sometime? And those bronzed DA2 Qunari look pretty. ^^

As for the original question, I like to think that it's Qunari custom for those of lower rank to trim them, and those of higher rank to keep them longer and adorn them. Thus 1A.

Considering the focus the qunari have on "being what you are", I don't think that his horns are so big because he's the arishok, but that he's the arishok because his horns are so big...

Interesting thought, makes sense too.

And the insides of the horns are apparently hollow, as evidenced by the Saarebas:
