Hi. Had Baldurs Gate 2 and its expansion Throne of Bhall for something like six years now, and I've hit the point where no matter the composition of my party or the classes I create, Vanilla BG just isnt doing it for me. I've experimented with mods before (to my own destruction) and decided a bit of advice would be very useful.

Mostly I'm looking on advice for which mods to obtain for better gameplay. I'm open to any type, even extremely game changing. Not only am I looking for advice on which mods to obtain however, but where to obtain them and, most importantly, what order to install them and which will mesh well together and which wont (This is what killed me last time).

Any advice I receive is greatly appreciated, and I'd like to say thank you in advance. Will try to check this topic regularly, though I have limited internet availability. Thank you Image IPB

Are you looking for more of a challenge? or just different content?

If more of a challenge, I'd do this for install order:
SOA+TOB+TOB patch
G3 Fixpack
SCS2 (Sword coast strategems 2 from G3)

SCS2 is a difficulty enhancer most made to 1. make the enemies smarter and 2. make some of the them better. you can select each item individually, but once you start facing enemy mages and priests, it REALLY becomes a different game as they start behaving like you do (e.g. smartly) and lots of general AI enhancements. this will affect the game right from the start of SOA. You can find it on the gibberlings 3 site.

Many player like Ascension - which basically changes the plot starting near the end of TOB - it makes the end MUCH harder in addition to the interesting plot points.

As for additonal content, I've enjoyed The Undying mod from Chosen of Mystra site - both for the NPCs and the related quests, some of which are major.

I was actually referring to that yes. I've tried SCS2 before (as I mentioned I'd modded before) and it definately adds to the difficulty, lol.

But I also meant some of the mods such as Item Revisions, Spell Revisions, and other kits and fixes from Gibberlings3.net. As in, what order must they be installed in to prevent the game from breaking (or my computer >.<). I've looked around but this information doesnt really seem to be posted anywhere; unless im just missing it, more than possible.

Also there was a certain rogue mod that altered the kids, installed a new vendor, and made some other similar modifications concerning the class, akin to divine remix, but I cant recall what its called or the site, so if anyone has this information....Its greatly appreciated lol

Hmm. After searching around for the last hour or so I believe I've found the mods I'd like to add. I looked at the sticky at the top of this forum, and while it was helpful (I havent read the whole of Bhryaen's posts, I have skimmed) I'm not entirely sure I understood it all. Anyways, if anyone cares to humor me, I thought I'd list the mods I'd chose and maybe someone could give a recommended installation order....Thanks in advance.

Item Revisions
Spell Revisions
Amber
Angelo
Kivan and Deheriana
Cross Mod Banter Pack
BG2 Fixpack
BG2 Tweakpack
Level 1 Npcs
Divine Remix
Item Randomiser
Song And Silence
Sword and Fist
Rogue Rebalancing
Samurai Kit
SCS II
Wheels of Prophecy.

P.S. I've read the beginning of the SCS II Readme and seen the install order recommended there. I suppose a simpler question might be, is that a reliable guide to instillation? (I assume it is but there may be subtle nuances I dont see, such as a mod that is seemingly a Tweaker, but adds items as well, and would that greatly affect the installation order?)

Thanks to any help thats offered, I really appreciate it!

Edit: Forgot to add Crossmod Banter Pack to the list.

At Spellhold Studios there is a project where they try to add tons of mods together, BiG World Project . You don't need to install all the mods they have listed but you could check their manual for what components are compatible with eachother and in which order to install them or run their setup to install the mods you have picked out. The projects installer project is mainly for a BG1 + BG2 install but I think you can choose a BG2 only install.

May I also sugest the widescreen mod you can find it at gibberlings3.net
