I think it's lame if real. Says to reward Bioware's most loyal fans, but real fans would already one or both games making it useless. No real thought behind this at all. Some soulless exec from EA no doubt dreamed it up.

Well, if true, this is coming from the company that celebrated their 15th anniversary by launching the Bioware Bazaar and called on their loyal worldwide fans to do a number of useless quests to finally have it available only in 48 states within the USA. I mean, not even Canadians had a chance.

That's how Bioware rolls you know, always thinking about their "fans".

Ohhh Bioware you silly goose!

Also 4 stars from the Associated Press, was this the best review you could find? Actually it probably was scratch that.

It's that most awesome loyal fanbase... remember...they want to sell RPGs to people who don't like playing RPGs

This sounds cool, I'm gonna try it. Only have DA2 and ME2 on 360 so far, and I hear the PC versions are better anyway.

I actually enjoyed Dragon Age 2 but after this ****** attempt of "rewarding loyal fans" I'm not buying any game from Bioware on day one. I'll wait for all their games to hit bargain bin. I thought loyal fans were rewarded with the signature edition? Loyal fans would have these games already so this is just one of the biggest fails and best ways to alienate your "loyal fans" BW.

Seem you are doomed either way, best to pack up and go back to medical equipments, Bioware. Sarcasm intended.

They're giving you freebies, and you're complaining, it's an year old game packaged into a game you got, for free! Not even FO:NV or Bioshock2 did the same... But whatever, right? DOWN WITH BIOWARE! I don't fully agree with every changes they made in DA2, the game is still enjoyable, for me(no need to get your panties in twist because I don't agree with you), but I don't think they are fully gone yet. I have a feeling that they have listened to the complaints on ME2 and decided not to full on dumb down DA2, I mean, we still have HP bars and skill trees, no? But really now, giving you an year old game for free is worth raging for? How entitled can you people feel that you are? What do you expect them to give for free? A freaking ferrari for each of you moaning crybabies? This is the 1st time I see a company giving away an year old game for free, for whatever reason, and got flamed for it...

I don't usually white knight, but geeez, don't you think you people are overhating a tad too much?

If you have the game though, I hope you can gift to your friends. Never used EADM.

A white knight might be a tad more cynical, seeing this as maybe an attempt to promote the sale of a product that is going over the cliff.  Loyal fans per se likely own ME2, being loyal fans and all.  Including a ME3 coupon would be a reward to the loyal base.  This looks more like a means to get newbies to experience ME2 so that they can be in line for the release at Xmas time.

Edit:  Not that it isn't a nice bonus for the non-RPG players who have never given Bioware a twirl on the dance floor.

Everybody who wanted to play Mass Effect 2 has done so already, considering it's currently retailing for less than ten bucks in some places. Bioware knows this too, otherwise they'd be offering the promotion for, say, DA:O instead. Which would make a bit more sense.

You can't. EADM is strongly tied to your account.

Still doesn't change the fact that people are moaning about getting an year old game for free, I mean... freebie! When is freebie ever a bad thing? If you already have it, gift it to a friend, unless... Ok, I am not going into the personal attack territory. But really, free game, why complain?

I might just add this bonus doesn't apply to me as I own the inferior console version, which, from the look of it, doesn't look like we console peasants will be getting this freebie. But still... complaining about getting things for free? Really now?

An ME3 coupon could be nice, but may be they will have more to deal with to get that to work? May be EA doesn't want that? Who knows? But they are making a very generous offer regardless of how crappy people think DA2 is, I have been gaming all my life(albeit having very shaky memory), but I don't recall any company ever gave away an year old game for free. They could still make money with ME2, you know? This is why I said I feel the need to "White knight", I mean... geeez... they aren't exactly making a huge loss in DA2 to warrant such action, sales/reception ain't as great as DAO, but that doesn't mean the game has sold badly... This is like spitting on someone's face for handing you money.

EDIT: Never mind the gifting part, but still, I wouldn't mind owning a PC/Mac ME2 personally, even though I have played the game plenty on 360 already. And there are always people out there who haven't tried it, marketing stunt or whatnot, I think they are still being generous.

generous.

Generous would be giving people their money back for this buggy mess.

"If you buy this overpriced bad game we'll give you a copy of an actual good game for more money than it would take to simply buy the good game and skip the bad game" isn't generosity, it's a scam.

It's the closest they will probably ever come to admitting that this dog didn't hunt.  Two strategies unfold, either discount the price substantially or sweeten the pot.  The first is a cash loss, the second might have a pay off down the line.  Not arguing that it is not nice, just not buying the "loyal fan gift bit".

Nice, i was going to take up PC gaming, ME2 and DA2 in one seems like a great place to start.

Although it seems desperate, on the website it says that DA2 exceeded 1 million in the second week. That's a bloody lot.

This makes me happy. It suggests that sales for the buggy, half finished Dragon Age 2 were low, thus they come up with a package deal, with a much better game.

Hopefully, this means they'll learn not to just abandon their fan base, and then bash us in interviews.
Hopefully it means they'll actually ship their games when they're finished.

I don't understand why people are upset. Every company does this for every type of product. Something is released at full price and the early adapters buy it on day 1. As sales drop the game goes on sale and they throw in things to entice more people to buy it.

I understand being upset over specifics of the game, but this is just normal business practice. Why are some of you so angry?

Mass Effect 2 isn't worth my time.(buyers remorse/ bad after taste/ poor sequel imo)

I'll check out DA2 when it's 15 bucks or less at Target.(like ME2 currently is, huh)

Yeah, selling a 3 week old game packaged free with a 1 year old GOTY for free, is not a normal business practise.

Desperation much, Bioware?

I ~have~ ME2. As does most of your "Most loyal fans". And that to was a simplified, dumbed down adventure hack'n slash. That to was a step backwards, although not as bad as DA2. But, it  was ~one~ reason I was wary about DA2.

Start making RPGs again, and I'll consider buying your games again.

how can there be so many people that think ME2 is better than DA2? DA2 is not nearly as good as DAO but come on, ME2 was such a stupid game compared to ME1. Frickin giant terminator as the end boss, really? The series had so much promise with it's plot and writing and they took a dump all over it.
