The only difference between Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age 2 is one has access to rather large guns that prove to be more popular than swords.

HAHA. Fat chance.
I'm making a note here, one of them was a huge success.
The other is not.

Good that you remind me what a failure ME2 was according to this forum.
For weeks there was nothing but cries of betrayal, dumping down, appeasing the CoD crowd and linking VGchartz numbers to prove how poorly it sold compared to ME1.

Does anyone else have a sudden attack of déjà vu?

Compared to the outcry after DA2, the one after ME2 was basically non-existent.

Can we get BioWare confirmation that this is true? I hate DA2, but I refuse to believe that BioWare would go this far toward ****ting all over its established fanbase.

"BIOWARE REWARDS ITS MOST LOYAL FANS"

The fans so loyal that they haven't bought either of BioWare's biggest games in the past year and a half yet?

Are you serious Bioware? Ugh If it's another marketing strategy to increase selling for DA2, then I'm done with you. Still...either it was Bioware, I'm pretty sure EA certainly has something to do with this.

I see it as a call to reward the loyal fans alright. They know the "loyal" fans will more than gladly take up arms to buy even more copies of this game to try to bloat the sinking sales.

Considering that this thread has been up since last night and we haven't got a denial yet from any community reps....

If true:

Hey, it's not all that bad, while I do own ME 1, 2 for xbox, I wouldn't mind another play-through on PC. Hell, I might even buy ME1 for PC just to start over.

It also serves as confirmation that Bioware does not think DA2 is as awesome as they claim, and while possibly only adding insult to injury, it's still a smart move from a marketing perspective - increasing DA2 sales while increasing possible sales for ME3.

has anybody bothered to check if this is real? because it's basically an April fool's joke that's trolling the easily trollable bioware fanbase

Yes, this is real, from eurogamer.cz, translated in google translator:

Quantcast EA once again paid the price for its speed in sending out press releases. Or rather, the branched structure of its employees? If you're wondering why you yesterday announced the action in Mass Effect 2 is free for all owners of Dragon Age 2 still throws an error message 404, or you seem to suspect that in a world that is not mentioned anywhere, there is an explanation from James Trulíka from EA Singapore:

"How many of you have noticed, the Web site to pick up the code yet. It is not, of course, the late April and does not make of you fools. special offer is valid exactly as we published it yesterday, but with technical changes that the site will function today to about 19.00

Much like the whole of DA2, I suspect that their cunning plan isn't going to work out quite the way they think it will.

I've already played ME2. How about some free DLC to wrap up DA2?

If this is true then I'll get ME2 on PC too now. Already have it on 360 but I got DA2 on the PC so then I can have ME2 on the PC as well. But why hasn't Bioware spoke on this instead of having to find a Youtube video on it? Reward loyalty my backside!

The last ME2 DLC is less than spectular so maybe asking for a DLC might not be the way to go.

A nice gesture, for sure. ME2 is the best game released in the last five years.

Too bad I already own it and have no interest whatsoever in DA2. Still holding out for that DA2: Ultra-super-edition-with-all-DLC at $20.

Edit: also, I do find it funny that the video makes it out to be a reward for Bioware's "most loyal fans", whom apparently aren't invested enough to already own ME2 and/or DA2.

Maybe it's time for EA to realise rushing a game doesn't work.

They completely dodged the big picture here. Oh well.

Yea, but I don't think Bio and EA are "responsible" for this, if this offer completely existed, we'd have news of it days ago...
