I'm not too far off starting my Mass Effect franchise re-run in preparation for ME3, as I'm sure many of you are doing also. But I just wanted a small question answered regarding reaching level 60 in ME1.

I want the Shepard I import into ME2 to be level 60, but as most of us know, getting to level 60 requires 2 playthroughs. So I'm thinking I may just rush through the main story once and level up a fair few times before using the new-game+ feature to do my "canon" run.

But what level should I try to reach before the end of that first playthrough? I'm thinking about going for around level 30, but I don't want to do that then have to do a third run because I just missed reaching 60 in the second run. Basically, at least what level will I need to be to be able to attain level 60 in playthrough 2?

Apologies if that was poorly worded or hard to understand but I'm very tired. Thanks!

This might help give you some perspective on what you need. I'm still wondering if you'll get to level 60 faster by doing three speed runs.

30 is so not going to cut it. I was level 55 at the end of my first runthrough, and didn't hit 60 until Ilos.

I recommend it. I did 2 speed runs plus one complete run for my import character. On the speed runs you just skip all the Mako stuff. You also don't have to worry about getting out of the Mako to kill things for more XP.

Your best bet is get to 50-51 on the first run. I got there from 51. Even then, on the second run I had to kill everything on foot and do most of the side quests. And I didn't hit 60 until the Geth drop ship on the Citadel.

I don't remember it taking that long when playing through it before. Thanks anyway, people!

I remember the first time I hit 60... My god it was a close one. I was lvl 59 at the final battle of the citadel, and I was hunting down every little enemy, even waiting at the endless waves of geth until they didn't give any more xp. (They stop giving xp after a few drops)

I finally ding'ed right before facing saren and got the achievement. Ah memories.
