No, if you're nice with a female hawke he hits on you as well (without flirting first).

You have to avoid the first flirt in the conversation  - something about justice getting a nice body  and go diplomatic and you get the same thing as the guys. Different dialogue but he hits on fem Hawke too.

On my older runs I usually keep red responsing Anders so he couldn't hit any of my male Hawkes.

With my only female Hawke I was trying to start romance and used all flirt options but not flirty comment from his side. Finally my female Hawke ended up with Isabela.

Instead of Anders, Fenris has flirt option available even I told him to back off (broken heart option) to him on first conversation. I think I am an elf magnet.

I'm curious, has anyone seen a video of Anders initiating the flirting and being rejected? I immediately had my Hawke flirt with him, so I haven't seen this scene and I'm curious about it now.

I wonder what triggers the rivalry romance? I never flirted with him on my aggressive!Hawke and then he gave her the whole 'For three years I lay awake aching for you' speech. I swooned.

@brightblueink I don't have a video but it goes like this. Anders tells about what happened with Justice and how he hates himself for twisting Justice into Vengeance. If you're nice and tell him 'We never know consequences for our actions, we can only make a decision with a true heart', he says 'Kind, wise and beautiful. Looks like you've made a deal with a demon yourself. Sorry, I shouldn't presume. It's just that we've hardly met and I feel like I know you. Am I making you uncomfortable?'
You can choose Yes (heart), No (broken heart) or This is a little sudden (the three arrow thingies icon).

Its nothing really.  But if you talk with him after you learn about justice (recruitment mission), just use the "diplomatic" dialog. And then next time you talk with him (right after actually), he then hits on you.

And you can say something like "i dont want you thinking of me like that", and he gets abit of a hissyfit and says "alright, lets keep it professional".  +10 rivalry.

Iv only been succesful in avoiding his flirting  by being sarcastic or agressive, which funny enough also lead to rivalry. xD
