Taking a leaf out of another's book....

I've been getting mixed veiws about people's veiws on DA2 so I just want to see some numbers.

Heres a little survey I put together. I'll post results every so often.

I'll bite, although I don't think it's going to give you a clearer picture. Plenty folk on here will just hit all the "DA2 bad" buttons and others will just hit all the "DA2 good" buttons, same as all the forum threads go.

Well as promised, here's some of the stats after 22 votes.

Which best describes your reaction to Dragon Age 2?
Rather split down the middle with the majority of votes believing this game was a waste of money, at 29%. The rest seem to hover mid range with people believing it was good-okay, though needed improvement. (39% between the 4 mid-range choices)

72% of voters believe that with well done DLC's released, those are the only way they may change their view on the game as a whole.

None of the voters believed the fixed storyline of DA2 was better than Origins, but it was rather evenly split between those who believed Origins was superior, and those who believed both games had their strong points.

On whether or not your character is voiced they answer numbers only differ by a few votes between silent, voiced, or either.

67% of voters preferred being able to choose a species.

81% want a free-choiced game for DA3 like Origins was.

57% prefer the way the elves were (or an aspect of how they were) in Origins as compared to DA2

57% prefer the changes made to the Qunari

And the top 3 places players would like to be for the next game are:
Orlais 24%
Tevinter 21%
Back to Ferelden 11%

Oh boy after 51 votes here are the new stats!

The numbers concerning how people felt about the game show now that 58% of voters believed the game was good, but in need many improvements to great. 40% are in the bottom three, with dissapointed to loathing.

56% believe DA2 could be better with better DLC's

51% see the merits of both game types, fixed or free story.

47% Enjoyed a voiced character, 33% were fine with either voiced or silent

67% missed not being able to choose a species, no one just liked being human.

75% want free choices for the next game, a return to Origin's set up.

37% were happy with the changes to the elves in DA2, 24% liked them in Origins better.

61% Like the changes to the Qunari

And the top 3 places players want to be is still:
Orlais 20%
Tevinter 20%
Ferelden 11%

Survey is suppose to be unbiased and you are putting your opinions into the choices. So, those who do not agree with your assessment of the 2 titles... cant really pick any. Just suggesting.

Just the choice of DAO & DA2 will be enough, why define what you think the two games are like. Some people might not share your assessment of those games.

6. For the next game, would you prefer having a set course of the story, or would you rather be able to shape history and Thedas as you go?
Become Warden defeats Blight. That story is as set in stone as setting story in stones can ever be. (IMO of course)

Why is there no option that reads: I like prefer DA2 style. All you have is - "I am fine with it". You have already declared that DAO is superior and at most we can only say we are "fine" with DA2 style.

Interesting results, but I'm not surprised that most people think it can be fixed with DLCs - the biggest thing missing from DA2 was flavour - in the form of NPC interactivity, item flavour text, item appearance and item names.

I simply tried to take the same approach that everyone else has, how does two and its changes stand up to your expectations and what you became used to in playing Origins. I can see how my questions seem a little biased, but I didn't mean them as so at all. next time I will try to be more specific, and more neutral.

The only thing missing for a real survey is the "don't know" option. Everything else is quite OK, as far as I'm concerned.

And with 118 voters, I will post the newest set of numbers!

The general consensus about the game remains the same as it has, there are those who like it, those who were disappointed and a few in between. The highest percentage rests at 17% with the option of people thinking it was good, but it needed a lot of improvement.

65% are of the opinion that with good DLC's they might have a higher opinion of the game.

53% Preferred Origins game style. 42% Enjoyed both.
I will digress here slightly to make a quick comment about this. Before people go judging the choices and general main plot with DA2 I want them to remember that the game wasn't built to be as free as origins, and even though we get some choices, with the exceptions of party members leaving, or being pro-mage/pro-templar, Hawke is meant to have a straightforward story, why? Because it's a story and its from Varric's viewpoint, its simply meant to give us background on what is probably the foundation of events for the next game. The tale of the Warden is an active present, history-making story. Hawke's is set in stone before you begin.

Anyway moving on...
44% prefer having a voiced main character, while only half that amount prefer the silent protagonist.

62% Prefer being able to choose between being a smelly human, a hairy dwarf and a knife-eared elf. 35% Are fine with both getting to choose, or having a set species.

69% prefer to have a world that reacts to them, instead of having no plot-changing choices.

35% like the changes made to the elves, while 23% preferred all aspects of them in Origins, and 20 preferred just how they looked on Origins.

59% like the change to the Qunari, 22% are fine with both games versions.

And we are moving on the map, the top three places people wish to go in the next game are:
Tevinter 23%
Orlais 22%
Antiva tied with Ferelden 11%

The smallest is The Free Marches at 5%
