The text for the Supplier achievement in the game states: "Find every variety of crafting resources."
Not being great and search quests and really not having the time or patience to learn, I've gone on a few other sites to look for a list of where everything is so I can more easily get it.  However every such site I have looked at has said that you need to get EVERY RESOURCE to get the Achievement and not every VARIETY.

I would have thought, going on the wording from the game as quoted above, that to get the Achievement you only need to find one Elfroot, one Deep Mushroom, one Raw Lyrium, etc.  But these other sites all suggest that you need more than that.

Does anyone know for certain if my reading of the text from the game is correct or not?
Thanks for any and all answers!  :-)

All resources. Isn't the first case of the in-game description not matching in-game effects/requirements.

Harumph. In that case, the Achievement has gone from being a challenge to being a tedious chore. :-(

Oh well, thanks for the answer! :-)

Well I'm not so sure it's entirely the wrong wording, after all, there are several different varieties of the same resource.

Raw lyrium, refined lyrium, volatile glitterdust, tainted glitterdust, etc. There's different varities of embrium and the other crafting materials too, you can read about them in the codex as you pick them up.

I think the wording might be intentional, and the developers consider each single find of a resource to be an independent one as in different from the others. If they weren't, why would you need to find more than one lyrium deposit for example?

It's quite evident that once you find one lyrium you can create an endless amount of items that require one lyrium, I think it's reasonable to assume that items requiring two lyrium actually require two different kinds of lyrium.

In this sense, the wording on the achievement would actually be correct, and people are just reading it wrong imposing a different meaning on the wording.

I think that's a hell of a stretch. After all, once you've found 1 Lyrium you can craft all the items that require 1 Lyrium. It doesn't matter WHICH Lyrium you've found, just that you've found one.
Trying to argue that every resource in the game is a different type of resource, to me that makes no sense. Sorry.

Like I said, if they were not different, why would you ever need to find more than one? Since you can craft endless amounts it seems you have an endless supply, so why would you need more if they're not different varieites? :)

I understand your argument, you think that if they are all different varieties the runes should say for example "requires: raw lyrium 1" and I completely agree, they should, personally I think it just says lyrium for the sake of simplification and to streamline the crafting system as much as possible.

Can't you get every resource you missed in previous acts from the Black Emporium?

I don't know if you can get every single one, but I loaded up an act three save where I know I've missed many, and there was a ton of different ones available at the black emporium.

Apparently, according to the websites I mentioned in my original post, you have to get them from the map in order for them to count for the Achievement.

Annoying, isn't it?
I strongly dislike that the programmers have designed it this way. If you miss a resource in an earflier year, you lose it for good. Which wouldn't have too big an impact if it wasn't for this Achievment's existence.
Supplier is easily the hardest Achievement in the game - not because it's a challenge but because one bit of bad luck and your entire 20h+ gameplay has no bearing on the Achievement at all. You have to start the entire game ALL OVER AGAIN. Which is just absurd for a game this length.
Heck, some of the resources are only found on sidequests you can easily miss, and one or two of them require you to make an entire sequence of specific choices just to get them. And if you do all that correctly and get the elusive resources contained within and then find you missed one in the Deep Roads anyway, it's all for nothing ...
Completely ridiculous.

I didn't want to believe the websites, AustinKain, which is why I asked my original question in the first place. :-)
It's good to know that you don't have to get all the resources to get the Achievement if you have The Black Emporium, but having now completed the game twice and STILL not got the Achievement it does raise the question of which resouces are skippable and which aren't. Given that it would take you an entire playthrough to test each Resource's validity, I really don't want to be the one tasked with finding out! :-)

As long as its not Dragons Blood,Ambrosia,Felandris then buy it from Emporium it will be ok, unless they only allowed me to do this on PS3 and not on PC,XBOX.

Just loaded my first playthrough (XBOx360) and had a look. Got the unique Resources and buying the rest hasn't done anything. :-(

U only get 1 each of the resources from the emporium so if you need more than that then you are out of luck.

i.e. you can get 1 deep mushroom, 1 lyrium etc...

Well that must be it for my first game I mentioned just now. :-)

I do wonder if any gamers like this sort of challenge, particularly one with such a high basis on luck or requiring you to crib it from the 'net for the answers. I can only imagine that some people MUST like it but I've never met a gamer who does ...
Anyone?

I personally like the challenge that the trophy provided.  It made me play the game in a way that i hadnt before, and its no worse to me than the History of the Chantry codex trophy, or the Enigma of Kirkwall codex trophy.  I am a completionist on every playthrough so I will do and go everywhere I can during a run. Which is hard considering that in DA2 certain choices prevent you from doing certain things in the future.

I hate Sebastian, but i still get him every run through cause i want that xp.

Fair enough then. :-)

Personally I think the reason I find this Achievement (and the Enigma of Kirkwall that you mentioned) is that you can easily miss one vital part in a place you can never go back to. Thus one mistake in a playthrough and you've got to spend ANOTHER 20h+ trying to get it.
If they hadn't made these Achievements so reliant on being in the right place at the right time, I don't think I'd be too bothered either way.

Don't think I'm ever gonna be able to get this one, the game is way too bugged out and some quests that have a resource never pop up for me. And I still can't get any of Sebastian's buggy-ass achievements to work.

****ing Bioware. You'd better not rush Mass Effect 3 and ruin that series too.

I don't think it is the case, I've got 2 spindleweeds from Black Emporium on Act 2 or 3.

To be honest running around in a map and looking for resources sounds tedious. It is okay on first run but after several times it becomes really annoying.

Plus most of the resources are in companion guests so if you loose Isabela or Anders you also say goodbye or doesn't take part in some companion quest just for rpg reasons you need to say good-bye to those resources.

Seen some reports that people got it with buying the missing ones as long as you pick up the last one from a node. Also some people that got the achievement despite Isabelle leaving them, because you seem to be able to buy an additional spindleweed at some point from the emporium.

I did it the old fashioned way, only missing unstoppable now eventhough i'm fairly sure i should have gotten it by now.

Have missed lyrium in act 1 or 2, cannot buy it in the emporium in act 3, though I'm sure I got the one from act 3 (double checked)
