I couldn't find a thread with this topic in the DA2 forum so I thought I'd bring it up... I've played through 3 full times now with 3 different romances.

1. Female mage- romanced Anders
2. Female rogue- romanced Fenris
3. Male warrior- romanced Isabela

Out of the these three I'd say that the romance with Anders pulled at my heart strings a little more because he was so afraid of hurting you at the beginning. But the romance with Fenris turned up the heat! When he comes back to your mansion after running away and says he'll leave if you command him... I think I actually started drooling... then I felt foolish, but seriously there was so much passion! He's even passionate at the final battle. I really wished he could move in the house so we could have a tumble every night... *swoon* I'm a big Fenris fangirl now.. He's even inspired a book I want to write.

The romance with Isabela was forgetable to me. Especially since I don't like her that much. Maybe because I got more involved with the other 2 romances because I'm a girl myself? I'm playing through as a male mage now and was trying to romance Merrill, but it's not going well and I want to just start another game to try out Sebastian although I know he's a prude and it won't compare to Fenris..

So what are your thoughts? If you've played through more than once, who do you most enjoy courting?

Personally I'm partial to the rival romance of Merrill. But Fenris is another good one. One of the better things about DA2 is you have kind of 2 different relationships. The friendly one and the other where you love each other but there is one thing that really is bothering both.

I haven't even tried a rival romance yet... Maybe that's the easier way to get in Merrill's leggings..

Merrill's Rivalry is just about the mirror. The wiki has a it listed. The largest chunk of Rivalry is not giving her the tool. She also doesn't like if you don't at least talk to demons first. Same reason she hates it if you destroy all the evil tomes in Act 2.

So far, Merrill. But, I've only done Merrill and AndersuptoActIII.

It's a bit premature to say since I've only done two out of five (er, four and a half I suppose), but I have seen some videos for the others and so far it's Fenris by a landslide, especially on the rivalry track.

Isabela. I'm not into emo, so it's pretty much Isabela by default. Besides, she likes big boats and cannot lie. She's just so unabashedly fun that I can't help but go with her.

I haven't romanced anyone but Fenris... and unfortunately Fenris is so damn awesome I haven't been able to romance anyone else. Damn you Fenris. *shakes fist*

Anders. I keep wanting to go Isabella, but my Hawkes remain in constant bromances with her. Or whatever the word is for "she suggests naughty things to do with Justice involved, he drinks more".

Anders, he's so integrated into the story and made my first playthrough so much more tragic. I tried romancing Fenris but after Anders it just felt a bit meh.

Tried Fenris, Isabela and Merrill so far. According to my experience:

1- Fenris (Friend)
2- Merrill (Rival)
3- Isabela (Rival)

Even Isabela has some good dialogues she didn't kiss me after last speech so least on my list. I hope they will fix that stupid bug soon so I can try to Friendly Romance with her.

Also trying to romance with Anders on female mage run but that guy is unbearable... Probably kick his sorry ass after Dissent quest.

Isabela has become my new "standard" romance, I like her romance alot.
I have tried Anders and Merill aswell(Not Fenris, I really dislike that whiner), but I just prefer Isabela.
I gues it's because, in personality, she is my type =)

Anders...lol...and I did not even think about romancing him first. When I saw the trailers I was thinking more about Fenris and Seb...but then my Hawke met Anders and all the others were forgotten. I love the romance so much, that I fail to romance someone else now...^^

I've done Isabela as a rival and Merrill as a friend. Of the two, I preferred the Isabela romance.

Anders has utterly ruined me. RUINED I SAY. He's even duking it out with Atton Rand for my favorite pixelated guy, and I thought no one would ever dethrone Atton.

I love the Fenris friendmance the most (rival is good too!), then probably the rivalmance with Merrill. I think it's really sweet when she comes to the house looking for Hawke and is near tears saying, "dont save me, Hawke, just don't." It always makes me smile.

Fenris, he was the only real romance opition I felt I could connect with beyond the 'one-romance-scene-per-act' quota. He talked about his past and revealed certain flaws of himself, like his inability to read and talked about what the Imperium was like, even during the rivalry romance.

It was far more interesting than listening to Anders rant 'MAGES MUST BE FREE' or watching Isabella beg for sex.

Yes. Some scenes don't fire correctly and his rivalrymance ending is unreacheable (it instead defaults to friendship which looks really odd (and disturbing if you've been rivalmancing him).

I've done rival/friendmance with both Anders & Fenris and friendmance for both Merrill and Izzy. So far, I love romancing Anders above all (especially if Hawke's dominant personality is aggresive) and Fenris friendmance is the second.

... Geez, come to think of it ... I've done five playthroughs already. (in 6th playthrough now)
