I have a lot of issues with the companions - Fenris I kicked out right from the start (I could tell he was going to be a whiner) on my first play through. I have not really romanced anyone except Isabela. Anders has the whole 'Justice' issue that reminds me too much of that blue dude in 'Watchmen'. Mirell, without going into detail, does not appeal to me in any way.

The only romance I've played through so far is Anders' friendmance. I'd been spoiled on the BOOM ahead of time (sadly--I would've liked to know what my reaction would've been if I hadn't been), so I was prepared for that happening and it was really interesting to watch Anders slowly losing his grip and my Hawke and him desperately trying to make things work. I enjoy watching obsessive, desperate, dark, unhealthy romances like that (...in fiction), so it was enjoyable for me.

Since I did that playthrough, though, I've seen the clips of the Rival version and I think I like it even more. As much as I like Anders, I can't deny that he's really letting himself go and being an idiot, so seeing Hawke disagreeing with him is sort of satisfying. If it gets patched, I'm considering doing another playthrough with the Rivalmance and making THAT one my "canon" playthrough.

Haven't done the other romances yet--started another playthrough but I'm currently debating between Merrill and Fenris. Of the clips I've seen on youtube, I think I like Fenris' romance the best out of the ones I haven't played...but it's hard for me to choose. I think they've all got a really interesting dynamic in different ways.

If you're going back that far, then Carth Onasi (he looks like my husband). In DA2, so far Anders because of the game ending. For me, the overall story feels more complete with that romance just like the Alistair romance felt right with overall story in DAO. Of course, with the return of Lelianna, that may change in the future.

First play i Friendly Romanced Anders... The impact that had on me when KABOOM... Unforgettable.

My favourite though at the moment would be Anders Rivalry... Though i havn't gotten around to the ladies yet, Merrill Rivalry is lined up for my next play, looking forward to it...

But yeah, Anders Rivalry.

It really made it impossible for me to romance anyone else.  I DID get an Anders romance in, and the final battle talk was so disappointing that, well, it's just back to Fenris  I don't even know if I like the friendmance or rivalmance better.  Both are good

Merrill but Isabela is pretty wild.

Sebastian is my favorite LI, but his romance is barely there, so it's hands-down Fenris for me.  I like that they shook up their normal formula with a break-up period, and the kiss at the end made everything all worth it. 

They're not my favorite, but I really do like both of Anders's romances from a storytelling standpoint rather than from my personal tastes.  A lot of the emotional manipulation and themes about obsession make for a really cool story.  One of the darkest things I've seen from Bioware, simply because it's so subtle (...I assume the creepiness was intentional. If it wasn't, that's...unfortunate).

For the ladies, I haven't played through them yet but I dig Isabela.  Her romance seems actually fun as opposed to ANGST-O-RAMA which is a refreshing change of pace. (Not that I don't adore angst.  It's just nice to see something different.)  For Merrill, I had the same problem with her as I did with Tali: Immediately saw her as a little-sister figure to be protected.  We do not sex up our little sisters. That is bad.

On my first play-through I friend/romanced Anders, but when I got to the end and found out he blew up the chantry, I was so shocked I killed him- so that pretty much ended that romance ( it did break my heart to do it, though!).

On my second play, I friend/romanced Anders again, and we ended up running away together at the end. I was still upset about the whole blowing up the chantry, though. But I understood why he felt he had to do that.

On my third play I friend/romanced Fenris. I became Vicount and we stayed together at the end. But I still had a hard time not romancing Anders on this play-through... there's just something about him that pulls at me.

I'm on my fourth play-through now and I am having a hard time deciding between Anders and Fenris. I'm playing as a mage again, so I have a feeling I'll most likely end up with Anders again. But then again, Fenris is just so darn hot and so physical! Yet the first kiss with Anders is SO well done.... all that pent up passion released... just love those sound effects! <sigh>

I really can't decide..... I want both of them!

Ah, this is exactly what I do, except for the one Hawke who was exclusive to Fenris. I can romance Fenris then Anders but not the other way around. It's Anders for me all the way.

Well seeing as how I didn't complete any romances in my first (and only complete, so far) playthrough, I'm sort of talking out of my bum here xD.

I remember playing through both of those scenes (ohmighosh...it's creeping up to month almost), completely unspoiled and was totally flabbergasted like whoaaaaaa.... when Fenris came all with the confession.  Those two ending scenes are simply fabulous.  

My next playthough will most likely be Isabela's romance.  I'm looking forward to it!

I got them unspoiled as well, and I have to admit I replayed them many times.  And they're still not old!

And honestly, that look he gives Hawke just after he kills Denarius, if you pick the flirt option, is enough to make his romance worthwhile IMO.  How a computer animation can portray THAT much emotion still has me in complete awe.

Thank you! I'd forgotten about his confession  His talk and kiss at the final battle I did remember. Must find resolve to do another Fenris romance
