Hi guys, its not really such a big deal but jjust thought I would mention a lag problem I sometimes have with the game out of curiousity more than anything.
What happens to me is game can be running fine until I enter the Hanged Man Inn, and then my systems lags so badly I wonder if its fallen asleep!
I am no PC or IT guru, and whilst my rig is 12 months old and no beast, I think its still a decent system so interested in finding out how the game runs for other players.
I am running the game with all settings maxed, including the 'Hi Res' patch.
My basic system summarised:
W7 (64 Bit)
Intel i7 860 @ 2.80 GHz
8 Gig Ram
Radeon 5870 (1,024 MB) - (V10.10 Drivers)
Anyway, like I said is not a big deal and there are plenty of game settings that I can turn down if it was a prob, but I am just curious to hear if other players have similar experience.
Cheers and thanks for reading!

You've got better computer specs than me:
AMD Phenom II X4
4 GB ram
GeForce GTX 460 1024 MB
And I can run it on maxed settings with only very minor lags. If I turn down AA and such a bit it runs very smoothly. So you shouldn't have any trouble from those specs per se ... maybe it's the drivers?

I switched from DX11 with no high res texture pack, to DX9 with high res texture pack and everything enabled except vsync (through the configuration tool) and I went from 30~ FPS to 90+ FPS and the game looks better to me now.
DX11 in this game is out of control, doesn't add much in my honest opinion, but murders the framerate. Just a tip if you want more FPS.

yeah possibly although 10.10 are fairly recent ATI drivers? Like I said its not a big deal at all, I was just more curious than anything I think my specs are more than enough to crunch out decent FPS for this game. I also found switching to full screen seems to make a bigger difference than normal with this game.
Anyway, thanks for the answer and have fun smiting the forces of evil :-)
EDIT: Ok driver updated now running 11.3, lets see ;-)

If the driver fails to impress and you don't want to switch to DX9, there's a 11.4 preview driver here http://support.amd.c...rlypreview.aspx that many people have reported to help.
For me it did jack **** (because my game runs fine, the only thing holding me down is my own computer specs which are pretty good anyway), but it might help you out if you're having problems

I experience some similar issues around the Alienage for some reasons. The game runs smoothly all the time, but when Im close to the alienage I experience some big lagging issues. Plus its only during some conversations!

Enabling DX11 has some merit: The biggest differences being textures that go from 2D to a definite (pseudo-)3D-ish look (especially flagstones in the High Market Square, and most other horizontal terrain surfaces, having bumpiness and depth to them) and spell and ability effects look definitely improved.Ruben Thomas wrote...

I'll throw in with DX11 not making any gameplay differences, but there are definite eyecandy differences that some of us find a worthwhile improvement.
Definitely make sure VSync is OFF. it's a real framerate killer in some areas. And I don't see much improvement with DDOF, SSAO, and High Quality Blur enabled (also framerate killers).
