Hi, I wanted to get rid of a few talents I liked less than I thought (on Fenris, if it matters) so I used a Maker Sigh on him.

The issue is related to how the talents you've learned get stronger as you level based on something (I am guessing related to your character level, or your attributes or something like that).  When I respec'd, all the damage values of the talents I had learned before were reduced to dismally low levels, to the point where I reloaded my last save as even with the talents I didn't want, it was still better to have them because the respec made me so weak.

I am wondering if this is definitely a bug or an oversight or whether it is something that, at least I would deem, is a really bad gameplay decision (no offense if it is).

Hoping I can get some input on this, thanks for the help.

Really? I hadn't been aware of anything like that.. maybe he "dropped" his sword when you respecced? Equipment with certain strength, and the like, requirements needs to be re-equipped, maybe that passed by you?

I don't think it is the same bug, but I have had a problem with the Maker's Sigh potion with my main character. Tried using one and I lost two attribute points and two skill points.

That's probably due to equipment which has attribute requirements becoming unequipped. Damage values for abilities are based off your weapon damage.

I had this bug too, it is because somehow when items which gives you extra attributes it looks like it removes those "permanently" from your stats.

I would suggest, first take off all items and then drink the potion. this worked for me.

This happened with my main char (the equipment and armor dropping) when I tried to respec, but it appeared as though all my equipment stayed equipped on Fenris (which technically, if I respec'd shouldn't have happened), so I don't know if this was it.  Or maybe I just didn't notice that it dropped. But RoninTX, if you said it worked for you, so I shall give this another try and see what happens then report back when I can. Thanks for the input everyone.

Additionally, Maker's Sigh triggers a glitch that reverts any positive, passive bonuses (provided by currently equipped gear or from skills) into a permanent negative modifier. For example, using Maker's Sigh after taking the Shadow specialization (for Rogues) and unlocking Pinpoint Strikes will give Hawke -25% critical damage permanently.

@RoninTX, that was a lifesaver!!! You rock!! taking off the items before drinking the potion definitely fixed my issue. I haven't been able to respec my character for over an act now, so thanks!!!

EDIT: My mistake, it did not fix the issue. I still am losing 10 attribute points, my guess being they are from tomes and the fade. ugh!!
