Bioware is now offering a free copy of Mass Effect 2 to people who buys Dragon Age 2 on the PC.

All I can think is... WOW....really, Bioware? Desperate much? <_<

Exactly how far can you fall, Bioware/EA?

I mean its's barely a month after release.

Holy butts. That's awesome. Also wanted to quote a guy's post that I thought was accurate.

"I wouldn't buy Dragon Age 2 even if Bioware gave me all of their games for free. Dragon Age 2 is not only a stupid, vapid and shallow game, it's pandering to the masses who don't play RPGs and the game presents the lowest common denominator for gaming on any platform. Dragon Age 2 is a step back not only for Bioware and EA, it's another rock that is sinking the video game industry into abyss that hungers for profits by producing terrible games."

I bet they'll put that on the case.

Are sales for DA2 really that bad? O_o

I mean I didn't except this from a game that just came out.

And that tagline is pretty damn stupid. "Bioware rewards their most loyal fans"

So, your most loyal fans haven't even bought ME2? Go figure. >.>

"Now with a bonus DLC that lets you use the Hammerhead in DA2!"

Seriously though, I don't think this is real.

There hasn't been any announcement on BSN so far that states that one gets a free copy of Mass Effect 2 when one buys DA2. Same for the Dragon Age 2 website.

Well, I haven't bought ME 2 yet. I have ME 1, but ME 2 just didn't appeal to me. I'm waiting until it's in the bargain's bin bargain bin. Granted, I wasn't too crazy about the Mako, but overall I liked ME 1.

OtoH, I was definitely suckered in to buy DA 2 because I loved DA:O. Go figure.

I understand but what stings about the offer is how Bioware basically slaps us with the idea that "true loyal fans" will buy into this marketing crap.

I mean really? Just smell that desperation. <_<

Steam does this all the time.

Which somehow makes it less desperate looking because Valve does it too?

I never pre-order. Ever. My usual way of purchasing expensive items it research, research, and then research again through all possible avenues. Including watching playthroughs, however boring that might be.

I did however buy DA 2 on reputation and expectation at my local Alpha Tech. Shame on me. It'll never happen again.

Edited to add:

Oops . You people are fast posters. My remark was aimed at Shirosaki1.

Let's go with Steam = Valve for my post.

Steam is but one outlet designed in part to sell games from a wide veriety of developers. This offer is from Bioware trying to directly boost sales of DA2.

Bioware has always been loving and awesome to its fans even though they don't deserve it. I can't think of anyone who hasn't played ME2 but still a wonderful deal and major incentive to purchase DA2, perhaps this little deal will make those on the fence see beyond the childish hate from forum dwellers and give DA2 a try

Sales seem to be plummeting week by week. At the rate it's going, DA2 sales will be well below DAO sales.

Pretty much. If it makes money, it makes money.

You're going to tell me that BioShock being bundled with BioShock 2 is not a "desperate" bid for pre-sales?

You can hate on BioWare all you want, but it doesn't mean that other companies that do the same thing are any less "desparate" for your cash.

It was also a lot cheaper to make and took 3 years less. I wouldnt be surprised if it the end nett profit is the same for both games.

Who cares? It's sold like a million copies already or more at this point? I'll guess that they probably made a profit, but I assume that people who declared ME2 a failure as well for not selling 10 billion copies will eat this up. Have fun gloating or whatever it is you're doing?

Part of the reason for that is DAO.  Personally I enjoyed it but a few of my friends who played never cared for it and won't buy DA2.

Offering two not-so-good games in one package makes it one good game... fair deal!

Yes I dont think ME2 is any good, its boring and straight forward shooter where headshots solve everything.

Not really gloating. DA2 is crap, so we're hoping it doesn't do well so they don't do more crap like this. It's in the consumer's best interest. I've been trying to spread the word that DA2 is bad so no unfortunate person buys it thinking it's good.

You're welcome btw.

Everyone is different, everyone has different opinions, the fact you cannot respect that is rather odd. You hate the game, but someone else might like it and you should learn to respect that.

Key word being IF.
This freebie deal is a second(or third?) marketing plan to salvage the sales of DA2 and seems like an unusual decision for EA Bioware at this stage of DA2 product life for them. I think it is not comparable to Steam's normal business practice of creating bundles and freebie deals for new/old game combos.

Someone already tried the link out? I did (dragonage.bioware.com/me2offer), and the page doesn't exist. Either someone at BW/EA got sloppy, or it's a fake, which seems more likely

Obvious fake.
