This is crazy, people are bashing Bioware for giving it's consumers such an awesome deal and saying they're desperate?

Was Valve also desperate when they started giving away Portal for free even though they're one of the most profitable game companies in the world?

It has more to do with them pretending as if they're doing it for the sake of their most loyal fans when it's an obvious sales ploy. Marketing fail 101, basically. Yeah, we're stupid. Just not that stupid.

I think it's up in the air whether Mass Effect 2 counts as a new release still, and with Mass Effect 3 coming out, why not market the two together?

I'll admit that I thought it was a hoax and it's not. I was wrong. Take that and run with it as far as you want. It's still not any indication of desperation. As others have pointed out besides me: it's marketing. It's been done before and it'll be done again.

It's seems like the haters are really jonesing for that Victory Lap. Keep waiting.

It's not bashing Bioware per se, it's pointing out to those who called or implied others liars and/or fools in here the reality that they are neither.

I'll admit that I thought it was a hoax and it's not. Big deal. It's still not any indication of desperation. As others have pointed out besides me: it's marketing. It's been done before and it'll be done again.

Its okay Rockpopamole. It happens to everyone once ina while. Follow the footsteps of drog45 (was it? I don't remember his name) and disappear for a while till the storm subsides.

I'm not going anywhere, Captain Suckadoodle. I admitted my error on this topic, and that's all there is to it.

How in the Hell is it a marketing fail?  Mass Effect 2 is one of my favorite games of all time and including it as a bonus for Dragon Age II sales sounds like an awesome deal.
