Seriously, most of the other characters had a bit of improvement, even Alistair in his brief bitter drunkard cameo, which the game got right at least....
But Zevran just looked like a generic Dalish with the old hair, which just seemed like a step back, I didn't really use him much in DA:O but he did seem to look different.

For me the problem is his (near) lack of eyebrows. With them, he would look fine.

I thought that Alistair and Zevran both looked worse and that Leliana looked better.

Its that new "proboscis monkey" nose they gave the elfs. Its just look a tad to weird. xD

I actually may prefer DA2 Zevran. His head/face model in DAO just made him look like a sleazeball, so his DA2 look was more...welcome, I guess. Alistair looks so much worse from DAO to DA2, and I'd say Leliana turned out about the same (can't decide)

I thought Alistair looked a little older and tired which made sense considering going from a jokester to King. But Zeveran just looks weird. The new elf model is just not working. The only elves that turned out ok are the Keeper, Fenrus and Merrill. The elves in the Blooming Rose should be paying me for sex they're so ugly.

I agree.
All in all, the elves remind me a lot of the Zora from Ocarina Of Time...

Personally I prefer him in DAO, but he looks good in DA2. Zev is still sexy in my books.

haha yeah poor Zeveran and Alistair looked...like the Blight sucked the looks right outta them.

Zevran was one of the companions in DAO that really set off uncanny valley in me (Lelianna being the other one), so honestly his new look in DA2 was welcome. Yeah, he still seems a little 'off', but at least he's not...plastic looking.

Zevran is tragic now. The years didn't make his skin sag, but managed somehow to make his jaw sag instead.
They gave Fenris and Merrill models different than the other elves... I would have preferred greater differentiation for Zevran too. I could have taken skin aging for him (his paler hair fits imo), but not the reworking of his bone structure. Perhaps he's received too many blows to the head.
And Alistair... *shudder*

He at least makes up with it by his energetic personality. Alistair to, his cameo is brief but worth it.

I agree with the OP. But I still let my Selena Hawke flirt with him, because, who could resist that dashing rogue
I was quite surprised to find that he was one of my favorite companions in DAO, and he was ever-present for my nightmare runthrough.
Anyway, really odd that they looked so odd in DA2. But whatevs...

I thought they did a pretty good job of still making him look like Zevran, despite the elf redesign.

I was thinking about making a thread about all the returning Origins characters, actually. They all look worse, down to a one. Especially the party members like Leliana, Zevran and Alistair. In Origins, they were very detailed, full of character and obviously crafted with love. In DA2, they look like any other random NPC. Sometimes worse, like... Zevran. WHERE THE **** ARE HIS EYEBROWS?! OH MY GOD I CAN'T BELIEVE I SLEPT WITH THAT THING.
... sorry.

I think Leliana looks better than in DA:O, actually.
Alistair does look a little older and more tired, but that fits with him being king--lots of responsibility on his shoulders. (I didn't keep any savegames where I made Anora sole queen, so no Warden Alistair cameos for me!
)
With the change in elven physiognomy, I guess it was just impossible to get Zevran even close to what he looked like in DA:O. If he hadn't been a favorite character of mine, I wouldn't really care, but...

I think Zevran looked a lot more friendly and less.. sleazy. Like ezrafetch said. Leliana looks better IMO, and Alistair is an outright tragedy now.

I think all the DAO cameos look weird to say the least. Alistair in particular looks like he just went through 4 children in 3 marriges and one too many 12 course dinners. Being king is hard work apparantly.

I was very disappointed with Zevran. I was so looking forward to seeing my old 'honey'.. They couldn't just load the original character like they did Anders? All the elves except Fenris are pretty ugly actually.

He certainly is. They all are, since I modded almost everyone in DA:O to look better.

In DA2, Alistair looks a little washed out. Zevran is really weirded.
... but Leliana looks so sweet and yummy!

Zevran is like a suave version of Tom Cruise from Magnolia done by Antonio Banderas.
Alistair's appearances are just... wrong.
It feels like he's there in all his 8bit glory just to serve as a subject for 16-ton weight jokes and cheesy references.

I was so excited to go see Zevran as soon as we got the Antivan assassin quest, I ran right there and then as soon as he walked out I just wanted to shout "What's wrong with your faaaaaaaaaacccccccce?" At least his writing and voice work was as fun as ever, unlike Alistair who is awkward and hammy and totally non-charming, in addition to having giant chipmunk cheeks.
I can't help but wonder why BioWare felt the need for a remodel of both characters when the time-frame for this game was so rushed. Couldn't they have just repainted the textures to match the general upgrade and left the basic character model the same? I'd love some insight from someone who knows more about game design and why decisions like this get made.
