Sadly, I think the only reason that Warden Alistair looks better is because his face is 3/4 covered in blood :\\ Poor Alistair. His nose job was a horrendous failure. Still adore his cameos, though.

Orana... nobody that ugly gets to live in Hawke Manor. I think Hadrianna denyed her one too many meals.

Tarohne gets a mention too... she creeps me out every time I see her, and yeah, that lipstick is part of it.

Aveline is also pretty repulsive... I'd romance her if she was available, but since she isn't there's no reason to look past her flaws. She looks like she's got a potato taped to the bottom of her face.

Edit:  Alistair too.  Not a fan of his new look, but I've only seen him as king... and Zevran while we're at it!!!  They butchered the poor guy...

Huon was terrifying. I actually commented out loud to my husband, "I don't think they could make him look any creepier and evil. It would not be possible." But that was ... okay for the character? So I wouldn't put him in my "argh hideous" category. He's supposed to look that way!

DA2 Zevran and Alistair both make me extremely depressed.

They had to do something to tame the fangirl crazy?  That works as a theory.

The random city "elves", like the pics here have shown. Would it have really taken much to make them look, say... Not demonic? Seems like the more important the elf, the better looking they are.

Varric with a shirt might give me nightmares, though.

My guess is that they did it for optimization purposes. Since the spectator elves can't even speak, there's no reason to look really closely at them. I know that for one of the games I worked on, we actually had a projected 2D spectators who looked really pixelated up close. They weren't actually 3D models, but we hid them among some real 3D models in order to make the crowds look fuller. It was really difficult to examine them closely without debug options though, the nature of that game kept the player in constant motion.

No, that was somebody else. I think they are talking about the winters mercenary who Hawke has to put down when bringing back the Viscount's son in Act 1.

Anders. Looks like an unholy crossing of a rat's knackers and a weasel.
Orana with her sunken face and bad makeup. I imagined Merrill and Isabella taking her in hand and getting her some style to her look.
Huon, Olivia, Denarius, Decimus (Grace, you died for that idiot, when you should have been grateful Hawke offed the bastard), Quinton. I also didn't like the look of Orsino but the dude had style which made up for his appearance with those black robes and that bad ass staff.
Most of the scary looking elves when I first started playing, then the look has grown on me. Despite this, I felt Marethari Version 2.0 actually was more beautiful than her DAO counterpart, from the very beginning. Not sure if it's her personality that just shone through or if it's actually I prefered this look over the old one but I liked it much better. She reminds me of Savah of the Sun Folk esp in the scene where she goes to the Alienage in Act 2 to help Feynriel.
