Because his moustache is not epic enough. I mean, it just kinda droops. And only once(in my playthroughs) did I ever have to rely on Stroud to save my sibling, so I'm not really in a position to hate him.
Precisely this. The moustache hints at great things; a possibility of a true titan among moustaches, but ultimately ends with drooping disappointment.

Hes tough, direct and to the point, it may be a little rude but I mean come on, hes constantly having nightmares fighting darkspawn and has lost about 30 or so years on his life, give him a break and as for him being unsure as to whether to let bethany/ Carver join the GWs I dont think thats a bad thing. I mean hes perfectly right if my warden was given someone out of the blue to make join the wardens id think oh great its another Mhairi.

Some people are angry at him for doing what a Grey Warden is supposed to do: Not sticking his mustache in other people's buisness

Otherwise, I thought he was a grim, humourless ****** which is what I have come to expect from the majority of GW leaders.

I'm more curious about what is so important the GW's have to go do it (even your sibling if you go that route) during Act 2 that they don't care that the city is going to hell in a handbasket with only Hawke and a few companions to stand between all the innocent civilians and the Arishok.

Wardens don't get involved in politics. They didn't do anything during the Qunari invasion for example.

Is the city being attacked by darkspawn? Are darkspawn in any way involved? No? Then the Grey Wardens are supposed to stay the hell out of it regardless of any innocent civilians. They start getting involved, and it's Sophia Dryden all over again.sylvanaerie wrote...

Doesn't change the fact that I dislike Stroud because he is a humourless, grim ******.

I don't know, my Warden in Ferelden was hip deep in politics both before and after the Blight. And if Alistair is a king, that's about as involved in politics as you can get. I get the feeling whatever they were doing was far more urgent than rescuing one city. I really doubt Bethany or Carver would have just blown off Hawke for a sightseeing trip.

And Duncan would disapprove of those actions, as would Stroud.

Remember that section of the Dark Roads where the Ancient Rock Wraith was?
Remember that one entrance afterwards that was sill magically sealed?
There's something down there.

Like I say it seemed to be more than just "we're nuetral" and I think (esp when you talk with Nathaniel) that something bigger was going on than just a Qunari invasion of one city. (Perhaps they are trying to head off a new Blight?) GW or no, your sibling isn't going to just blow you off and run off with the wardens just because of political nuetrality. I think there is something else behind that scene. And would be curious to see more/what it is.
