Just finished playing and never met or Nathaniel. I read, somewhere, that he should show up if he survived DA:A. In my save he did but I never saw him.  This is a game bug?

Possible game bug. I got his quest, but my wife didn't. Even though he survived on both imports near as I can tell.

His quest is called 'Finding Nathaniel' which you pick up from his sister in front of the chantry in Act III. Those that don't get his quest get one called 'Fool's Gold' instead during act II.

If you take the 'Martyr' default import, you'll get his quest as well.

Apparently if you save Amaranthine and don't bring him with you he will be considered as dead in DA2 even if he survives.

His sister showed up at the beginning of Act 3 to ask my Champion to go look for him. I had a Awakenings import on the PS3 where he survived that I used for this play-through. Not sure if I had to do anything previous in DA2 to get that to happen.

The flags may not properly show that your keep was upgraded. So it may have proc'ed the Fool's Gold quest in Act 2 instead. If you got that quest to save that Dwarf's 3 suns in the deep roads? That would have been why you don't get Nathaniel.

Yep, I got Fool's Gold in Act II. I guess it didn't read that I'd upgraded Vigil's fully and invested in arms and armor for the men. I, also, gave his slot in my party to Anders (back when he was cool and I didn't want to stab him in the eye.)

His voice sounds different though, like he smoked a bunch of cigarettes or something. It kinda starts sounding like Nate from Awakenings towards the end of the quest.
