People are in this sort of denial about Cersei, too. I don't think GRRM "changed" her in AFfC- do you have a quote that he did that? She was always a scheming, completely self-absorbed b*tch, but some people wanted to think she was some misunderstood flower, too. I think she has sympathetic moments in the books, but she's funnier and more awesome as schemer rather than constant victim- now not just of Tywin and Robert but Joffrey, too.Eski.Moe wrote...
You can still be a complete douche and be a multifaceted character.
I guess the show makers thought they have this great actor Charles Dance, they have to do more with him and make the character substantially different. I guess I'll just have to see how it goes this season and onward. Maybe they can pull it off in the end. I can't see how it's going to work, though.

Now that Game of Thrones is well into it's second season, do you think it's possible for fantasy series like Malazan Book of The Fallen or The Wheel of Time to be made into a television series by HBO.
I don't know what those series are like, but I think it works for them with Game of Thrones because the fantasy elements in the books are reasonably subtle (minus the dragons, but even then, they are considered rare and amazing in the world, not an every day occurence), and magic and mythical beasts aren't all over the place, Lord of the Rings style. A lot of the focus so far is on political schemes, battles (in a historical style) and such. I imagine they'd try something Low Fantasy (?) again, but not something High Fantasy (?).
Edit: That dance video was hilarious.
@Confess, I guess you know you're the master of the death scene when you can add 'death by cow ramage' to your list of credentials.

MBoTF & TWoT are high fantasy compared to ASoIAF's low fantasy, so the budget to produce a series like them would be astronomical. I just pray that in the future that if (big if) these two series are made into movies that M. Night Shyamalan stays the hell away from them.

I like the title of that book.
And a picture for episode 9, Blackwater:

Is that a chain I see tied to the rock, crossing Blackwater? I really hope they dumped their budget for episode 9...

Yeah I laughed at that part lol.
But yeah given those two pics I really, really...and sadly doubt we'll see the Chain. Most likely budget issues...but sigh... that was the one of the coolest things from the books.

I think that is the chain, in Brock's pic.
Looked more like ship hulls to me, could be wrong.

Jon was raised to be chivalrous, and maybe he's reminded of his sisters. To have a soft spot for women is hardly the worst fault. It does make him a little daft, I admit. Like it did his father. (No, not Ned.

And I really love how GRRM manages to wrap up everything within the little short story and yet also leaves things on just enough of a cliffhanger to make you excited to read the next one. SO GOOD!

BTW GRRM's anthologies Warriors and Songs of Love and Death are really good. He edited them, that is.
