Because it was a minor detail they figured people would overlook.

And so far the whole show seems that way honestly, detail here detail here. It turns into a new painting, a very ignorant painting.

Oh for God's sake.

So a friend of mine is like, "Duhh...umm...who r teh snow zombies lol"

I explain.

Then she's like, "so r tehy going to war"

I sarcastically respond that no, they're actually going to have a massive tea party.

I then tell her that she'd of known who they were(The Others/White Walkers) if she remembered them from the beginning of the first episode or if she read the novels.

Not only did she never watch the first three episodes of the GoT, but she didn't even know...it...is...based...on...books.

Argh.

*flips desk*

Now you see why I have a problem with the above, they don't advertise the books, they Focus on more of the...soapish momments of the books, and the looming threat of the others isn't even talked about,  some important, damn well important sections were just chopped out. It promotes ignorance on the story, and just like your friends if people ever learn about the books, the short cuts and packed parts of the TV show will leave them unable to make sense of the books at all.

Its not "Artistic flexability" its Artistic Butchering.

(...) But I heard David and Dan have talked about how they are now adapting the series as a whole and how things are being moved around -- so maybe we'll see more down the line that some people think should've be in Season 2 - maybe they'll pop back up again, or not I have no clue.

That's great! Where did you get this info? Not doubting you or anything, but just wanna know. :)

That e.g. the Reeds and Tullys will finally appear next season is relatively new info, that starting with season 2 they are less adapting one book at a time, but the whole of ASoIaF, which apparently gives them room to shuffle things around, has been said by them in a number of interviews during roughly the first half of the season.
Just search the usual suspects: Westeros.org, Tower of the Hand.com, Winter is Coming.net, EW etc.

It'd be great if along with the show came some adverts for the novels, I'll say that much.

I really don't get why they don't. And I don't see why George Martin doesn't demand that they give at least a shout out to em. Or at least a "based on"  statement.

Yeah...in some respects I'm glad they didn't show some of the visions as they'd come across as too obvious when shown visually. But to just strip out most of them and even the warlocks with the floating heart and their prophecies for Dany (the 3 treasons, 3 fires and 3 mounts).

I'm ok with what they had but it should have been a bit more surreal with some visions that were more out there, like the books.

People have run out and purchased the books themselves. Perhaps they don't feel the need?

My mom works at a wholesale club, usually hanging around the book section, and she's told me that thanks to the seasons of GoT, the ASOIAF books have been selling a lot better.

Though it would be nice to see ads. I'd like them, at least. Even if I already have the books, hahaha.

I'm a couple of weeks behind because I live in Belgium and chose not to download them illegally. I finished reading the book recently and I'm now looking forward to Blackwater. I've read promising reviews of this episode.

I'm kinda confused at something. That guy ended up giving that big speech to those people who captured that building. Something about how they only had 20 men and outside had 400. He gave a pretty impressive speech. I could compare it to the one Allister gave in Orgins before he headed off to combat.

Then that guy knocks him down from behind and throws something over him?

1. Why did they do that and is that guy going to be dead?

2. Was that guy giving him bad advice on person just to make people upset

"That guy" is Theon Greyjoy. Just to clarify.

And as far as him being dead or alive goes, well that would be a spoiler, wouldn't it? heh.

But I don't get why they hit him. Why? he was their commander.

If they gave up Theon they would be allowed to leave.

Lol, no.

The Game of Thrones Wiki has a character section that has the pictures and names of all characters in the show. It will help with knowing all of the character's names.

Hmm... Maybe Theon/Dagmer/Ramsey Luwin for Bran? In any which case: no.

Not sure if I missed anything, but did the Stark army that surrounded Winterfell just leave the castle all destroyed like that, or is there another explanation?

Short answer: yes. Long answer: strictly speaking those were Bolton men, not Stark men, but yes.

@Hawke_12: You're welcome.

Let me introduce you to Pyat "Duplicate Boy" Pree, the only gay warlock in the village city.

It bothers me that without any build up through flashbacks and similar at all so far a certain extremely likely revelation will come totally out of left field for non-readers. For some readers, too, sure, but at least they got plenty of hints throughout the books to figure it out for themselves.
And while I agree that it would be hard to keep ambiguous, the vision regarding the highlight of next season is what I wanted to see the most.
But okay, they only really affect the readers, not so much the characters, so leaving out all the visions can be forgiven, but the loss of the spoken prophecies of the Undying? That's major. But then again, they already FUBAR'd Dany's story in this season, so I suppose ruining her further development must come natural to them.

Well, the intro to every GoT episode had that very statement.
